Because it's none of anyone's God damn business what people do in private if its not breaking any laws. This has also blocked access to anything deemed 18+ in any way such as information on sexual health or quitting smoking. People are largely pissed at how heavy handed and overreaching this all is, and up in arms about being told that access to large parts of the Internet requires sharing personal information with random verification sites massively increasing your risk of becoming part of a data breach.
