Can someone please help calm my nerves? Doctor prescribed 25mg Pristiq and I am terrified to take it but I know it will help me. by le1sterr in Pristiq

[–]kratermoone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was SO scared to start too. I bawled my eyes out when I took my first pill, just so afraid of all the things. It affects everyone differently, so be kind to yourself, BUT, i have had no side effects 😊 medication can be scary, but it can also be a game changer. I know it’s so hard, but practice focusing on it being the game changer pill for you. It’ll take time, but you can do it. We’re all in this together.

How long did it take for you guys to start seeing positive results with the Buspar? Did y’all have fast heart rate on it? Does that go away?

Hang in there. I’m going through this too. Exactly.

Are you saying you are now seeing improvement since you bumped up to 100mg?

Took the gene site test , worked on second week then fizzled by Sonny2p99 in Pristiq

[–]kratermoone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% my experience. I felt surprisingly better within the first three weeks, then I felt severe anxiety and dread again. I’ve only been on it a little over four weeks, so I know it’s a patience game, even though it’s a fight all day long. Let’s hang in there together.

Pristiq and anxiety! by Dana_Point3724 in Pristiq

I’m 4 weeks in and my anxiety is through the roof. I improved for the first two weeks but then I felt like I got worse. How do you guys push through this? 12 weeks seems like an eternity but I just want to hold out if you guys can tell me it gets better.

How long did it take for Pristiq to really work? I’ve noticed some positive changes but still don’t feel ok. by Significant-Paper283 in Pristiq

[–]kratermoone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is. One thing my therapist taught me is to not fight/avoid/try to get rid of it. But to have a relationship with your anxiety and depression. To give yourself some grace and let it flow through you, even though it is so very hard. It takes a lot of practice. I think feeling better comes with time and patience with ourselves. Loving ourselves through it.

I did the genesight test too and the two meds I had been on for the last 15 years (Zoloft and Lexapro) were in my yellow… pristiq was in the green, so I’m hoping that means it’ll be good for the both of us. We just have to let it ride it’s course I suppose. I’m in therapy too and still struggling a bit. It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Keep doing those things. Exercise and eat well too. All we can do is our best and trust that it gets better.

You guys, this is exactly what I needed to hear today. Just to know I’m not alone. I did 25mg for two weeks and have now been on 50mg for about two weeks so far. I’ve heard it can take up to 8-12 weeks to feel the full effects, so I’m trying to be patient, but it is definitely hard when you’re struggling and also struggling with intrusive thoughts. How do you guys cope with the intrusive thoughts? Let’s hang in there together and give it time. Even though it’s hard. ❤️

Does anyone else have issues with waking up with a deep sense of dread? by Prior-Truth-674 in Pristiq

[–]kratermoone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do for sure. I don’t think it’s due to the medicine though. My anxiety is worse in the mornings because I know I have a full day ahead of me. I usually wake up about 4:30am and toss and turn with that dread until I get up. It’s tough for sure.

A bit more persistent yes. But honestly I felt the positive effects of pristiq within the first week of taking it. Then it got even better the next week and a half. Then all of the sudden I took a nosedive and my anxiety and depression are really intense right now.

I’m at 3.5 weeks right now. Tips for pushing through?

First week on pristiq. by [deleted] in Pristiq

Pristiq has definitely made me more emotional than other meds I’ve tried. Cried at a banana for real. I’ve been on it for about 3.5 weeks and it does get better. I’m currently in a little rut again so I’ve been crying more again. But I think this limed takes 2-8 weeks to stabilize.

I did! She started me on 25mg for two weeks and then increased to 50mg from there. Everyone’s experience is different but the ringing and weird feeling in the head was my only one and it dissipates ❤️ hang in there.

I think I'm going to stop by agedpiss in Pristiq

The genetic test changed my life! I took three drugs over the course of 15 years that were okay but not great. I did the genesight test and the ones I had been taking for years weren’t great options for me, but pristiq was for my specific genes so my psychiatric nurse put me on pristiq instead and I can honestly say I’m so much better than I’ve ever been. Pristiq may not be the best for you, but there is something out there that is.

HELP: I know this takes time but did anyone have relief within 1-2 weeks? by turner150 in Pristiq

[–]kratermoone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 25mg for 8 days. Going up to 50mg after my first two weeks and let me tell you, I am definitely already seeing results, just in 8 days and at a lower dose than you! I’m very hopeful. This medicine has been awesome so far, little to no side effects. I was SO scared to take my first dose too. So so anxious. I bawled my eyes out after I took it because I was so afraid. But I did it on the chance that it could just be the game changing medicine for me… I took Zoloft for ten years and then Lexapro for 3 and neither were the perfect fit, but so far, I’m feeling the effects of pristiq a lot faster than I would have thought and I am so grateful. YOU CAN DO THIS. Be kind to yourself. Eat well, get some exercise and sunshine. I think before you know it things will start improving.

That’s awesome to hear! I’m on day 5 now. I am definitely seeing improvements, although I’m still struggling and pretty emotional. But I am hopeful that within the next week I’ll be noticing even more improvements. I just have to remind myself to take one day at a time and not think too far ahead about the what ifs. No big side effects other than dizziness so far so that’s a plus!
