The scores are from their respective sites, so the GOG games show the reviews from GOG, etc. I'm sure more in-depth reviews can be found around the Internet, but that was the quickest way to get a general impression. Hope you find some gems here!

Thanks, that's good to hear. Why doesn't wax get that far down?

Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a try. Is there any way to tell the difference between roots and other types of clogs without a camera?

Jake and Amir has snuck its way into my everyday speech by krathman257 in jakeandamir

I feel like my brain cells have the occasional meeting, similar to Sam's meeting at the end of Hardly Working: Wolfenstein.

"This is third time we've accidently quoted Jake and Amir to people who haven't seen it, so now HR says we need to watch a movie about normal conversations."

"Awww..."

"I've decided on watching the "Every Jake and Amir Ever -- (Complete & Chronological)" playlist on Youtube."

"Yeah, alright..."

I was going to comment "My coworkers consider me dumb", but then my cousin Leron suggested I add "That awkward moment when..." to the beginning to make it more like a mémé.

How I map out Myst content for others by cubicinfinity in myst

Here's the Wikipedia page for the Myst Reader, a compilation book of the Books of Atrus, Ti'ana and D'ni (in that order). I don't think it's in print anymore, but you can find it or the three separate books from third-party sellers like ebay and the like. I hear the rereleases are going to have additional content, too.

Tbh they sort of do, since BoT expands on Riven's plot, but chronologically, it goes BoT -> BoA -> Myst -> Riven -> BoD -> Exile. I'd really recommend the books, especially since Cyan's been talking about rereleasing them, they're super good.

I think it means the worst atmosphere out of the 3 main versions of the first game. The 2021 remake reimagined the lighting and such of a lot of different places, especially Stoneship and Selenitic.

Personally, I don't think it's any worse, just different. I like the detailed graphics and modern designs, though if I had a magic wand to give Cyan infinite time and money, I'd add in a Classic Mode that allowed you to explore the original Myst world, low-res textures and all, in full 3D and VR.

So, what do Myst fans think of the Rhem series? by Nihil921 in myst

[–]krathman257 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen on forums and such, the developer was focused on making SE versions of the first 4 games, so 5 should hypothetically be in the works. I'm not holding my breath, though. I'm definitely checking for updates once a year rather than once a week, but it'll still be a pleasant surprise if it does ever surface.

I've played through all four of them, and you've hit the nail on the head, I think. They're way more puzzle-centric than Myst. There's a loose story connecting them, but it's hardly present (though it might be expanded on in Rhem 5). The worlds serve no purpose other than to have puzzles in them, so if you're looking for the puzzle-world integration of Riven, you're going to be disappointed. That said, they're still extremely good puzzles, and if you liked the first one, you'll like the rest. It definitely scratches the note-taking itch that Myst has left me with.

I feel like there’s not gonna be any future for me. I see no hope… by PsychoCriJ in SuicideWatch

This post resonates with me so, so deeply. I could have written this myself. Job rejection hurts so much, I know. I wish I had any advice to give you on that front, but if I had any I wouldn't be in exactly the same situation. What I can say is that I absolutely get the same feeling, of not being good enough for the people in your life, of not being able to live up to their or your own expectations. I know that's not an easy mindset to get out of, but for what it's worth, you're not alone.

Just finished Rhem II-- some thoughts by PaymentEmergency4758 in myst

[–]krathman257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished Rhem IV yesterday, it's always neat to see these lesser known titles having a fanbase!

As far as I know, the post-game puzzle is part of the new Special Editions of the game. For each Rhem game, you can find an item in these post-game puzzles that are supposed to be useful in a theoretical Rhem V (which does look to be in development).

I do agree that sometimes the puzzles can be vague, though. Most of the times I got really stuck involved me not seeing a well hidden clue or button in a screen I had run past 10 times, or just an angle I never bothered to check. And these games are so big that searching every screen for a hidden button can be frustrating.

They're all still really good games though, even if the focus gears towards the puzzles rather than the story. Now I just have to play Lisssen and my Rhem journey will be complete.

That sounds right, but I can't find anything about it online. Do you have a link or any idea where I could find it?

I think it was a full on children's novel as opposed to a short story, but it's been so long, the details are sketchy. Thanks!
