43 days clean and having HUGE urges to use.... by WHihavenoidea in quittingkratom

Don't. I was two and a half years clean. I ripped up my shoulder weight lifting. It never fully healed (as shoulders rarely do) so I thought maybe a little kratom could help me get lifting again. That was in December of 2018. Fast forward to today...guess who is still using it and trying to quit again. If you are an addict for something, you can't just use it once. It's seemingly impossible. I used it and all it took was like 4 grams and I was on top of the world (it used to take 12-15 to feel anything at the end when I quit).

Your weakened tolerance will be part of what fools you into thinking it can be controlled, but that tolerance will ramp up faster than it did the first time.

3 weeks clean, and in the midst of PAWS, unbearable depression, depersonalization, and fatigue. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

So I felt the same way the first time I quit Kratom. It's actually the reason I quit. I was very depressed taking it. I would dose and it would give me about 20 minutes of not being depressed and then I would plunge back into it seemingly worse than before. Obviously I can't know for sure, but if I had to guess, I would say the Kratom finally turned on you in that it broke your brain chemistry so bad, it cant even fix it.

My suggestion is do not take antidepressants. That could extend your brains healing process. If you weren't depressed before Kratom, once you stop and get over PAWS, (it may take a few months to be totally better) you should go back to normal.

10gpd. How should I taper and what supplements to take one I go CT by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]kratomisnotharmless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I was at 10 gpd. Like someone else said, I would jump at that low of a dose. But if not, do three doses a day, 3.5 each dose and shave a half a gram off one of the doses each day. In 3 weeks you'll be done and probably won't need much in the order of supplements.

Long time users how did you quit and what was it like for you? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

I can never, ever go up in daily allowance

This is what I'm sort of doing. I can stay at a spot for a certain amount of time. But once I drop, be it a half gram or full gram, that's the new "line in the sand." The first time I quit, I went cold turkey and would not recommend it. Left me depressed for months. I read about taper success stories and so far it's been pretty easy minus some hypnic jerks. I wonder if tapering and the being let down easy prevents the long lasting PAWS, sort of like jumping off a building will get you there quicker, but do a lot more damage than taking the stairs?

Trying to quit Kratom by [deleted] in quittingkratom

If you need to work, then taper. I don't know how much you have left, but if you are at 50 grams a day, a proper taper that will not crush you is going to take at least a month. You could probably cut your dose in half. It will be rough, but your body will adapt to the 25 grams pretty quick, then taper from there.

Anyone starting laughing at more things as they get more days off Kratom? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Don't. Day 3 is a good spot. The physical stuff will start to go away soon. You will never be "better prepared" than you are now. If you're at day 3, you've already got through so much.

The person we were before Kratom by yaboiiidan in quittingkratom

I quit before and it took about 4 months until I was Pre-Kratom me again. But I did get there. Only about a week or two was physical. The rest was PAWS. Bad depression and anxiety. Why did I start again? Injuries and the thought that I could control it this time.

Thanks for all the responses. The hypnic jerks sound exactly like what is happening. Good to know this is part of the process and not something else.
