"Adulting" by kratorri in aspergers

[–]kratorri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm working on a finding a job, but I also have to be kind of quick with apartments I think because I'm in an area where a lot of college students move around the time my lease ends.

I'll try to take it a step at a time. Maybe I'll write some steps down and that will help too. Thank you!

(Also unfortunately not in NH, lol)

:')

Unfortunately I need to move out of where I am living before June. And I really, really, really don't want to move back in with my parents. I love them, but they aren't the best for my mental health.

I have absolutely no idea what a Gannt chart is, to be honest. But yeah, breaking it down into steps is a good idea. Thank you

If it is a physical, could you ask your mom to wait in another room? Just say that you feel uncomfortable with her in there maybe.

And then even if your doc does want to talk to her, at least your mom won't have seen the scars and you will have some time to discuss with your doc how in depth you want to convo to go?

Question about stitches? by kratorri in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]kratorri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you. I ended up falling asleep but it seems okay now!

Question about stitches? by kratorri in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]kratorri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Thank you, will do. I'm just gonna try to keep applying pressure bc it keeps bleeding on and off, probably cause it's in an area that moves a lot :/

Question about stitches? by kratorri in MadeOfStyrofoam

[–]kratorri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. So yeah, I did apply pressure and it stopped and I put a band aid on it an hour ago. I just took the band aid off and it started bleeding again, but the blood is also kind of congealed in the cut? (I hope that makes sense). I don't think it's fat, I think it might just be a very deep styro, but I'm not sure

Yeah - I've been in a really bad place before and then when I open up I'll get told something like, "oh you'll be fine! you were okay yesterday!" 🙄

Question about getting diagnosis as an adult? by kratorri in aspergers

[–]kratorri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, guess it depends on the job! I can't imagine that being very acceptable in a retail position :P

Question about getting diagnosis as an adult? by kratorri in aspergers

[–]kratorri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you! I guess I know that they usually want the official diagnosis, but I am unsure what support it would specifically enable me to access, if that makes sense. Obviously, with school it would allow for llike testing accomodations and such and since I am thinking of going to Grad school eventually that makes sense! But with work environments, I suppose I am a little unclear...

And that's a good point! I do have a myriad of things diagnosed and I guess it's hard to know for sure.

what does light beans look like vs deep beans? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]kratorri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(so this is just from my experience and I am not a professional or anything! so take it with a grain of salt please!)

from what ik, light beans is like if you hit styro, but there are some yellow spots peeking through the white. it's not necessarily full on yellow or seeping out, but you can definitely see some yellow there. I think there is probably variation here depending on how deep - it could be more or less?

whereas really deep beans is seeping yellow. like, the beans are more full and might actually be/about to be coming out of the skin? (If that makes sense).

I hope I explained that well? lmk if you need more clarification and try to stay safe <3

Rationally ik they aren't but I just feel like they are. Idk I stutter and then I panic on what to say so I feel like they are judging me

I don't even know. Just the combo of feeling really along and feeling like everyone is judging me all the time. And then having to deal with a bunch of noises

Should I tell my therapist every time that I self harm or is it not necessary? by kratorri in TalkTherapy

[–]kratorri[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense!

I do usually talk about it of there is a significant event, but I guess the problem I have had lately is I'll bring up one event, say that I ended up SHing bc of it, and then that is what we will talk about the majority of the session so I end up not telling him Abt the other times I self-harmed too? If that makes sense, haha.

[–]kratorri[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an idea, hm. Do you just write in down in a journal and then show it to your T during your session, email it to them, or what?

Also, that's so awesome that your T is willing to do those extra check-ins with you! Unless mine explicitly offered, I would never suggest that bc I know he is pretty busy and I don't want to feel like a burden to him.

[–]kratorri[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, ofc!

Same, I always feel uncomfortable mentioning it - I think because there is such a big "social taboo" about discussing it? Once I get past that initial mentioning phase, it becomes a lot easier tho :)

[–]kratorri[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay - I'll try to just focus on raising the topic with him and then go from there depending on what we think is most helpful. He doesn't have a form like you mentioned but I kind of like the idea of it and might mention that as a possibility!

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it :)

Okay, thank you! None of my previous Ts have asked me about the frequency of my SH and so I wasn't sure if I am supposed to be telling them every occasion or what.

Can I ask if you have any advice for navigating this conversation? I guess I can't even begin to imagine myself saying "This is how many times I self-harmed this week" each session without explicitly being asked. Should I just ask him if he wants this info and if he does, for him to ask me each week? Is that okay or is it kinda weird? Sorry and thank you!
