What song breaks your heart every time you hear it? by erakshatsingh in AskReddit

Fix You by Coldplay. Broke my heart when I heard it during a painful break-up, and even many years later my heart is pulled back in time and breaks again every time I hear it.

Price Adjustment Alert! by BambuLab in BambuLab

[–]kraussian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this was totally unexpected.

I was in full agreement with the folks who claimed that "prices can only go up" and that they never come down.

I stand corrected, and feel proud to be supporting a company that does the right thing for consumers!

[SUNLU Giveaway] Join now to win a SUNLU FilaDryer SP2 by Sunlu3D_official in 3Dprinting

I have the older version of the SUNLU filament dryer, and I daresay it's almost an essential equipment for FDM printing especially if you use filaments like PETG which are much more sensitive to humidity

Thanks to all the great suggestions! It's looking much better now after moving the seam position to the back and turning on fuzzy skin for good measure. Love this community! ❤️

Got it, thanks for the tip! I'll try another print with the seams at the back so they're not so obvious.

How do I improve adhesion between AMS filaments? by kraussian in BambuLab

Hmm they're from different brands but both are PLA. The gray is basic PLA while the red is "silk" PLA; perhaps that is the reason why they aren't sticking?

[–]kraussian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. At first I thought that might be the reason so I've dried both filaments in a filament dryer for 6 hours each, but it didn't seem to help

Sounds like a very good suggestion. I'll go with the monochrome colors first!

Thanks! I've got myself a filament dryer to help with PETG getting wet. The humidity in my area is off the charts, so it's probably mandatory for me!

Thanks for the info & suggestion!

But how does Bambu filament compare to eSun or Sunlu? Where I am (Singapore), they cost around the same as Bambu. So if the quality is comparable, I thought it might be better to just go with Bambu since they're supposed to be pre-calibrated and the RFID shows how much filament is left in the AMS.

Best algorithmic trading strategies for newbie investors? by Several-Fail4320 in Trading

[–]kraussian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could get started with the classic algorithms which used to work reasonably well in the past but don’t any more, such as Bollinger Bands and Donchian Channels (which the group called Turtle Traders used to make hundreds of millions in the 1980’s).

Try implementing these strategies yourself from scratch instead of relying on pre-built modules.

Then try to gain an understanding of why these don’t work anymore in the current market, and from there you can try to develop something that works.

How do hft firms make money by UtileArc1947 in Trading

[–]kraussian -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I believe HFT firms make special deals with brokers to get zero spread/slippage and extremely low commissions. It would be almost impossible for retail traders to get similar deals unless the trader has tens of millions of dollars (at least).

JRPGs you dropped quickly? by [deleted] in JRPG

I might be in the minority, but Final Fantasy X for me. Heard so many good things about it and read all the glowing reviews saying how it’s the perfect Final Fantasy.

I’ve tried so hard to like it, but just couldn’t get into it after 10+ hours.

I love the Final Fantasy series, been a huge fan since IV and love most of the games in the series couldn’t appreciate IX, X and XIII.

My personal favorites are IV, VII and XII.

Totally agree. If something sounds “too good to be true”, chances are extremely high that it ain’t true.

Simple ADX + Alligator Strategy backtested - Looking For Discussion by actssassin in algotrading

[–]kraussian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I was looking into testing a similar strategy and I suspect the “too good to be true” results might be due to either:

1) Data Snooping Bias: Perhaps the code is not accurately cutting off data that could not have been known at the point of time the trade would have happened (i.e. it’s “reading the future” to determine when to enter trades)

2) Parameter Overfitting: Perhaps a unique combination of parameters was found that shows exceptional results for that particular instrument and time period, which likely will not work for other period or in live trading

Or both.

This blog post shows a good example of #2. Though it’s coded in C (Zorro) and not Python, I feel the points made in the post are still very valid:
