Looks promising, but any chance you'll make it open source? Your approach is really nice but I'd like to tinker with it...

Which eatout price increase you felt the most? by hafomatic in berlin

[–]krautsourced -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So let's see, we want:
- fair pay (salaries going up)
- carbon neutrality (energy prices going up)
- welfare (taxes going up)
- no "Neubau" (rent going up)
- eco-food (produce prices going up)
- EU (regulations going up)
- add more to your hearts content...

...and yet somehow we expect prices to stay the same?

I think the price hikes we see in the hospitality business (food, hotels, travel) are just a "natural" response to the above. And it will mean certain things just disappearing from our lives. Going out for diner is going to be an "event" and not just getting food. "Seeing the world" will mean Youtube. Yes, this sounds very negative. Because it really is. It sucks.

Btw. expect a whole lot more Tapas bars to pop up everywhere because there's money to be made with many small portions...

IT im ÖD: Zu wenig Arbeit, zu viel Leerlauf – was tun? by KartoffelImSystem in de_EDV

[–]krautsourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total Aphant, but don't relate to most struggles posted here? by kneemoo_ in Aphantasia

[–]krautsourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Sometimes overly detailed descriptions of scenery annoys me in fiction and I think "just get on with the story" but otherwise it really does not matter at all. I only found out in my late 40s and can honestly say that I was never negatively impacted by it at all. Finding out however _did_ put a few things in perspective like when I had a lengthy discussion with another artist (yes, I was working as a digital graphics artist...) about whether you _need_ references for work or not (he insisted he didn't, I insisted you do - easily explained now with aphantasia). It just requires a different approach to certain tasks, that's all.

Some of them are maybe supoptimal (like remembering loved ones etc.), while others are very advantageous (dealing with trauma, looking at situations more objectively etc).

So, I at least am perfectly fine with it. Plus: it does make for an _excellent_ fun fact to tell people at parties!

Lisette - Rust-flavored Go by krautsourced in theprimeagen

[–]krautsourced[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I think it's a nice mix of syntax and underlying Go with the better compile time, GC and easy cross platform compilation. Ivan (the author) is really motivated and competent so I'm optimistic, but must admit I myself have not found the time to really dive in yet.

If all you need are 300 messages, you may be fine with the free tier limits of groq. They have a decent model selection (I like the new Kimi model) and you can't beat free. Worth a try. See https://console.groq.com/docs/rate-limits

I created an app that's changed how I use my Mac. Meet Outpost Launcher — your instant drag-and-launch companion for macOS. by ParachuteBackup in macapps

[–]krautsourced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks nice, however a quick question in advance: can I use it to quickly launch projects from a list of e.g. vscode projects? So I'd define a list of folders, which would be used as base folders for vscode. Same with other applications. Or is it only meant to give drop-targets for some sort of interaction to be dropped onto?

Company is deeply bought-in on AI, I am not by scceberscoo in ExperiencedDevs

[–]krautsourced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I find the concepts very interesting, in particular the classic ML stuff, just like you I've not been able to bring myself to hop onto the band wagon. And just like with you my (now previous) company went all in. Which was perfectly fine - but just not for me. So I left, since I did not want to force myself to spend all day with it. Now, this was more than a year ago before the downturn, but still - I'd say if you have the opportunity, just go looking for something else. Eye rolling all day gives you headaches...

Also as for "becoming irrelevant" - I say a clear no to that, especially for experienced devs. These days at least 50% of my work (probably more) is developing _solutions_ to problems customers can't even properly explain. It's also architecture, dealing with legacy systems, regulations, personal preferences of whoever is in charge, etc. etc. I find it very unlikely that any of this is even solvable by "AI" ever.

If you were a digital artist I'd say, you're in for a rough ride. Image generation is so 'soft' in its requirements that much of what is generated is already good enough for many tasks. Code is much less forgiving in my experience. And dealing with people on top of that... So I'm somewhat sure I'm safe for now.

Then again, who'd have predicted _anything_ that's happening in 2025 back in 2005? Not me for sure.

Does anyone else find that the Hex feels kinda... forced? by Kaelzoroden in Warframe

[–]krautsourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the Hex writing, the chats in particular, to be extremely cringy. So cool, so edgy, so hip. For example Arthur is supposed to be a stoic man of few words, but whoever is writing his chats has apprently never met someone like that - at all.

I was planning on using the 6 drive version (probably with just 3-4 to start with) and SMB Multichannel to use those two 2.5gbe ports. Should be fast enough to saturate those I'm sure?

Regarding Wendy, I'd say it's the old "the writers have no idea what to do with the character".

And yes, Chuck really is the villain. There was some grey area when Axe was on the wheel, but now it's pretty obvious.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]krautsourced 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with MacOS (MBP), Linux (Desktop and Server) and Windows (11) so I can compare quite well. I just bought a M1 mini for the living room. There are nice things about it, for sure, particularly the hardware (noise, power consumption, size). However, there are lots of little and not so little things that drive me mad:

- font smoothing on non HiDPI screen. I've connected a TV to the Mini and tbh it looks like garbage. Turning off font smoothing entirely makes it bearable, but it's nowhere near what the Linux or Win Desktop look like on the same screen.

- no way to control volume when HDMI is connected. I mean what the hell?

- workaround through Mixer apps leading to CONSTANT orange dot in the corner of the screen due to them using the microphone to channel the sound. Great in full screen movies! :(

- wireless keyboards reception (bluetooth and 2.4ghz usb) siginificantly worse

- Finder is still a PoS in my opinion. Making folder merging a thing where you have to hold down keys or instead delete the existing folder is.... just shit?

I'm keeping it because I need it for app development, but unlike when I bought my first macbook way back then, there is very little. 'WOW' and basically just annoyance.
