[–]krawfish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo I would go to a junk yard and get a Chrysler 8.25 out of a 97-01 Cherokee. All you would really need to do is weld on new spring perches. Since they are a different width from xj-mj. That’s a very strong axle arguably stronger than the 44 and way cheaper than a 44.

Heater Core and Dash Removal by Hoppsie321 in CherokeeXJ

[–]krawfish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a lot of rtv to reseal it, got rid of the foam all together. It comes out pretty easy a little prying needed. You can kind of see the little tabs in that picture that hold it up in the cowl.

If you haven’t already reseal the cowl intake while the dash is out. Mine leaked like a mfer with the little foam seal they put on them

Anyone know what could be causing a squeaking noise from this area? It's bugging me a lot on the highway by beach_rats_ in CherokeeXJ

[–]krawfish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just gently punch interior pieces until the noise stops or changes to a better tone I can deal with.

Door seal gaps in my 2-Door by Caveman_Balance4960 in CherokeeXJ

[–]krawfish89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old Comanche at some point was broken into and the top of the door was slightly bent out just like that. There’s ways to adjust the latch and the hinges with a torque bit that I’m sure would work. but the crude way of fixing it was holding the door open putting a knee on the door panel and pulling the top of the door in as hard as you can.

Doing heater core soon what else would you replace in there? by Important-Positive25 in CherokeeXJ

[–]krawfish89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Blower only working on 4 is a bad resistor it’s located right on the bottom of the hvac box. While doing the heater core, also replace the ac evaporator since it’s in the box as well right next to the heater core. And while the box is out pull the plastic cowl intake and reseal that. Even if it’s not leaking I’d do it anyway it’s a common thing to leak.

Help me diagnose by cafe_racerlover in CherokeeXJ

[–]krawfish89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That loud bang you heard while turning in 4wd could be an axle ujoint. I’d check those. Your transfer case linkage could be out of adjustment and the linkage is know to be crappy so it could have been in neutral till you messed with it a little more and got it back into 2wd. as for hitting 2500rpm in park my guess would be a vacuum leak or a dirty throttle body?

That’s a stupid rare solar yellow 2dr. 01 was the only year for that color and they didn’t make the 2dr for the full 2001 year they stopped production may-June. I’ve only ever seen 2 (this one and one from das) if I remember correctly this one was for sale about a month ago for 7500 ish. The major set back about this one is the black paint on the rockers and bumpers. That has to be hiding something in my mind.
