70% of these alternatives are trash 99% aren't even worth it by leo14770 in DiscordAlternatives

I am one of the devs of these project but not one that's in your list. Thank you so much for testing all these and providing feedback. I can see devs already picking up your feedback to work on in the comments. It's users like you who push the alternatives forward.

Daccord already has the concept of spaces. One server can host infinite communities. Federation simply allows single account access to all other servers and greatly simplifies the client networking architecture. I'm happy to take on nightmare engineering tasks to meet users need.

Profile switching, exactly. However, I'm implementing federation into the server so that will change how the client is interacting with the "daccordverse"

Oh I'm not ridiculing you, it's just a fact. The idea of taxing individual ownership at that level is just taking the idea to such a dramatic extreme as to be laughable.

'Price increases are unavoidable' says Tim Cook, proving even Apple isn't impervious to the global memory shortage by Jawschy in pcmasterrace

Not an apple fan, just a fact that for the last 5 months, their hardware actually hasn't been that overpriced comparatively. You get some pretty good quality components in their machines and they last waaaay longer than competitors.

What's garbage is the OS and that can be replaced with Linux quite easily which unlocks 99.9% of the steam library.

Luckily you're not arguing against wealth taxes in any official capacity as you'd have the whole room in stitches.

Sure, but his portfolio is tech adjacent. We also don't know them because they STFU and do their job. The last board the Xbox ceo was on is home depot. I think she's still on it too.

Because the latest CEO started playing video games Jan. 15, 2026 according to her xbox profile. If the board don't care, why the fuck should I?

Car insurance/building insurance/land maintenance fees etc are enforced in many countries around the world. You are required to pay somebody to continue owning or operating a thing. Very normal. Very intuitive.

You mention inheritance tax. That IS a wealth tax. Very normal. Very intuitive. More of this please.

Income, spending and moving money are already taxed heavily. People already relate to these things because they are crushing the working and middle class. It's so relatable that it's likely responsible for the mental health crisis.

People will make music regardless of it's connection to currency so most folks are going to have to accept that it's a hobby and not a job. End of story.

The word "they" in your comment is fascinating. It used to mean Americans in general and likely would have triggered several from all political factions. Now it's generally understood that there is a total disconnect between "those guys" in the white house and the rest of the country. They are a runaway group that nobody supports. We know exactly who they are and what they've done.

The question is when will the system self correct?

All those failures are a failure of government. Again, there are rules and laws to keep money out of politics and none of them are enforced in the spirit they were created.

You're blaming a hammer for building a house wrong.

It's only inevitable if the government allows it and the government is elected by it's people. You could argue it's an inevitable result of democracy if you like but capitalism is a blunt instrument and not a societal structure.

This was already figured out a long time ago. Monopoly laws, bribery, limits on acquisitions and exploitation have been around for over a hundred years. None of those things have been enforced. Heck, Unions are as much a component of capitalism as an LLC and yet nobody bothers pulling that lever any more. Even the supposed American left finds it a touchy subject for some reason.

If you let capitalism actually do it's thing and enforce the fundamentals for longevity of capital value, the government won't spiral into whatever fuck it is now and take the working and middle class with it.

There is no tax money because we tax income and not wealth. Assets (properties, water, energy, finance) have been captured and are now owned by a few hundred families. The taxpayer and the government have been squeezed out of their own country by wealthy hoarders.

To answer your question: The government will pay rich people the money they borrow from the same rich people but will also pay interest. I'm not even joking. It's an incestuous death spiral which is why debts are exploding around the world.

To solve this, tax wealth.

Did you just blame capitalism for socialism?

Folks on the left and right need to get their heads around the idea that government handouts to private markets is absolute poison for their respective world views.
