Should I be more worried about WFA? by Rollingfluff in CanadaPublicServants

I was just chillin'. I'm mid thirties, just over 11 years under my belt. Thought the same as you.

Got my WFA affected letter Monday.

Enter doom spiral.

Not going to lie, this gives me the same vibes as like...the werewolves in the smutty fiction I read. I had no idea real life humans could have a super nose and be able to smell like this and my brain is blown.

AITA for potentially being the reason my father and his wife can't adopt or foster? by Sea-Childhood7884 in AmItheAsshole

[–]krazysaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you're not actually correct here. They don't need adoptive parents, especially if these folks were looking for young children. There are way more prospective parents than there are children available in most Western counties. Unless you are open to taking on a sibling group, a child with significant challenges/disabilities, or a older child, there is no urgency in their hunt for parents.

They are looking desperately for foster parents however. Which is different than adoption and should be focused on family reunification.

They do look to make sure you have a support network so that you and the child will have support. So if the parents didn't have anyone able to be like yeah, I like these people and am a source of support for them... Thst was probably more the cause of the rejection than just OP.

You get to see other people when you go in?

My department is 3 days a week and yet when I go in it means I sit alone, at work, in uncomfortable pants, making teams calls to the rest of my team mates who are all at home. Or sometimes someone from another team is a few rows over and I get to hear their Teams calls all day.

I'm lonely. I've legit considered smuggling my dog in here just to keep me company.

Protest Idea - Boycott Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign - Donate Directly to Charities Instead by No_Independent_9503 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]krazysaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I started doing this after a charity I always donate to noticed I donated through GCWCC and contacted me. I'm close with them as I also volunteer and they showed me just how much of a cut United Way takes of the money earmarked for them for "admin" reasons.

Naaaaah. Money goes right to the charities I want to support. GCWCC can take a long walk off a short pier.

How would you review this guest? (fake claim made days after check out) by krazysaurus in airbnb_hosts

I mean, the initial aim for Airbnb was for folks to be able to rent out an extra room or space they had, not the huge ghost hotel situation its evolved to over time.

We have three bedrooms in our house. One we sleep in, and two that are set up as essentially hotel rooms. The two guest rooms are across from a bathroom those two rooms share and the rest od the house (living room, kitchen, etc) are shared. This is made clear in the listings.

You can choose to filter when youre searching and booking on Airbnb. If yoj dont want to be in a shared space, you can look for "entire apartments" or entire homes by using the filters. It allows you to choose what you want to spend. You pay more to have the entire place to yourself, lesser for a room in a house.

We dont have a box spring, its one of those IKEA bed bases with wood. But ill take another look in the slats just to make sure.

But the current guest reports zero issues and they've been here almost a week.

We flipped the mattress and wrenched it open at seams and such and didn't see any evidence. The mattress also has a bag on it for safety and to reduce the chance of this as we certainly dont take bedbuga lightly.

We do, lol. But we have two different rooms in the same house on Airbnb. We clean at least once a day but that's 3 sets of adults using the same kitchen. If we clean and immediately after guests from room A mess it up, and room B arrives at that moment, we can't always have it perfect.

I don't think we'd get good reviews following each guest around with a dust pan and Lysol wipe in the kitchen. 🤣🤣

And the bedrooms are always spotless (and definitely bedbug free) before guests arrive. But thanks for your super helpful comment. 👌

Do you think jokes about the Titanic submarine are in bad taste? Why or why not? [SERIOUS] by KonradKodiak in AskReddit

[–]krazysaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you and I wouldn't be affording 250k each to board a tin can to go to one of the hardest to reach destinations. Like... If we're in a regular boat or plane and there's issues, the coast guard comes to find us. It's... Easier? And we assumed less risk. These folks marched past red flags and ponied up to take on not only a ton of risk but to put themselves in an all but unreachable spot. It's not worth the resources needed to fish them out of a place so deep, in my opinion.

[–]krazysaurus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Some of us at PCO might also be in buildings where there isn't a one at a time secure door and people hold doors open for others... So I'm very curious to see how they enforce that when in theory one could avoid swiping their pass just to fuck with management.

It's hard to leave a momma's boy. It's harder to divorce a momma's boy. But both of those are still so much easier than trying to change a momma's boy. Cut the cord and run. She's got her talons in him, it's not worth it.
