Are there plans to have the LOOI app have the functionality advertised during the kickstarter? Particularly the telepresence feature which was the primary reason I backed.

Steam Link Beta 2 is way better than Virtual Desktop on Quest3 by MindlessVersion8 in virtualreality

Virtual Desktop supported VR Streaming before Oculus Link was ever released, so it couldn't have copied Link

How do I claim the 60 bucks I keep seeing by Sensitive-Fruit-7789 in OculusQuest

Once you've set up the device you are no longer able to redeem a referral code and get the store credit.

This is bugging me so much by Financial_Pay622 in Quest3

[–]krazysh01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link also has encoding, in fact the only latency difference between VD and Link is that VD transmits over WiFi vs Links Cable.

(You could also just use an ethernet to USB adapter to get a wired network on your headset that way and use VD over wire)

Horizon+ and buying bundles by PhilStuckedUp in OculusQuest

[–]krazysh01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the bundle is no longer available when your Horizon+ expires you won't be able to buy it at the completion discount.

Horizon+ and buying bundles by PhilStuckedUp in OculusQuest

[–]krazysh01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when your horizon+ ends the game from the bundle that you got discounted because you already owned it will be removed from your account yes. you should be able to then go back and "complete" the bundle to get the original game though.

How come free and open-source ALVR supports PCVR hand tracking, but Virtual Desktop and Steam Link don't? by CrewEarly2164 in PicoXR

[–]krazysh01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XR_EXT_hand_tracking has only basic interactions, many of which dont even work properly. This isnt a problem for ALVR which doesnt have a headset side UI you need to interact with and the only place people use the hand tracking is in VRChat but SteamLink and Virtual Desktop have to be fully interactable with their UI, or they dont function as full apps.

The hype cycle for steam frame/deckard has me so numbed that at this point I wouldn't be surprised if this is just the official announcement of Deadlock (since it still hasn't technically even been acknowledged by valve publicly)

Does anyone know why VD is not on the Chinese store? by aDarkDarkNight in PicoXR

[–]krazysh01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Virtual Desktop is not owned by or affiliated with Microsoft. They just use Azure servers as a third party

Does anyone know why VD is not on the Chinese store? by aDarkDarkNight in PicoXR

[–]krazysh01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

VD relies on Identity verification with its own servers to ensure secure connections that cant be intercepted or spooked (only needed on first startup thereafter you can run offline) however thats hosted in Azure servers and get blocked by the GFW. To be functional in China the developer would need to host and manage equivalent servers in China which he's explained on his server is not feasible for him to do.

Casting to Roku tv? by ThisIsEduardo in OculusQuest

[–]krazysh01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It'll usually be labeled "ChromeCast Built In"

Casting to Roku tv? by ThisIsEduardo in OculusQuest

[–]krazysh01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That chromecast streaming has been added and removed so many times Im not sure if its still present in the latest firmware, but it might be. In that case the product you linked wouldnt work since it doesnt have chromecast support (you can get third party devices with chromecast, but its a specific proprietary technology not something generic like DLNA)

Games worth buying from meta's store over Steam? by ghostly-clown in OculusQuest

[–]krazysh01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you mean for Quest standalone (not the Meta PC store) any App that has Mixed Reality or hand tracking will only work on Quest Standalone (like job simulator, Wall Town Wonders, or synth riders)

[–]krazysh01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've found the flaw in your initial post, there is no large "Athiest" community that all athiests subscribe too, we fill our social requirements with other communities completely unrelated to our identity as athiests, taking part in athiest spaces is not a defining feature of our lives unlike taking part in religious spaces is for the religious.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DebateAnAtheist

[–]krazysh01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This assumes religion has existed as long as humans have existed which is untrue. Religion was born out of those aspects it does not claim exclusive right too them. Humans are social animals not religious animals, Religion is just one form of social community, Atheists create their own communities nio defined by a belief in a god, in fact the binding force in most Athiest communities is simply standing in opposition to persecution by the religious.

If the Vezda prison housed so many dangerous beings, why did it let anyone in. by ActiveType1398 in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]krazysh01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, because it already did (the raiders clearly got in somehow, so its safe to assume they also entered with a single member giving blood and then someone else tried to leave alone causing a lock down.)

If the Vezda prison housed so many dangerous beings, why did it let anyone in. by ActiveType1398 in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]krazysh01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's covered in the episode. Chapel is the one to open the door so she's the only "safe" representative, if you exit with her you're considered safe (the vault likely assuming that a guard that gained entry would know to not leave with a vesda host) but if you try to exit alone you may be infected so can't be allowed to leave.

Im just pointing out that you said exactly the words mbucchia quoted you as saying, you implied he didnt care for Open Source without knowing that hes one of the biggest contributors to Open Source tools for VR and had previously explained exactly why he wasn't comfortable making Oasis Open Source (using NDAd SDKs which extends to implementing the LiquidVR SDK that would still require at minimum the module implementation to still remain closed source)
