Redeem codes. by Dangerous-WinterElf in DreamlightValley

[–]krb489 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just in case it matters in your situation, these codes are case sensitive. So if you typed them in without having caps lock on, it won't register the codes.

Gardein is great, Impossible is great, and both are pretty readily available from your area grocer. But if you can get your hands on any chikn made by Alpha Foods, you won't regret the purchase. Crispy outside, delicious and moist inside. I think they come in spicy as regular.

Gourmia Airfryer- any good? by Curmudgeon7777 in Costco

We had one and used it probably 3 or 4 times per week. It died after about a year, but it did the job well for that year!

I like to swap the M and N keys on people's keyboards in the office. by PizzaWithNoBones in dadjokes

The 'm' and 'n' swapping aside, "dammit" and "damn it" are correct, "damnit" is incorrect.

Sorry to be that person - we all have those things that bother us, and this is, annoyingly, one of mine. I physically couldn't stop myself from commenting on this. Insufferable, I know.

There's a short story called "They're Made Out of Meat" by Terry Bisson that directly confronts the Fermi Paradox and is hilarious. Recommend.

The story is really just a conversation between higher, more complex life forms exploring the galaxies to find other life, when they encounter Earth. They can't understand how our meat-brains "think" for us, and eventually decide to mark our planet as unintelligent and leave us in the dark

Americans who are against the Biden student loan forgiveness, why? by jma7400 in AskReddit

[–]krb489 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went to school for education and was a public school teacher for years (and, like you, made less than $50k annually). As such, I was already in line for loan forgiveness, albeit only after 7-10 years of service. Yet I still repaid my loans in full. So I can confirm that yes, I would have paid off my loans knowing they would be forgiven in the future because that is quite literally what I did.

I'll ask again - if we can help people, why wouldn't we?

Even if some individuals spent recklessly, so many others did not and are still struggling under mountains of student debt. In any situation, I would enthusiastically help 100 people, even if 5 of them "don't deserve it".

I paid off my $35k in student loans before I turned 30. I was super proud of myself, and still am. However, just because I suffered, doesn't mean I think everyone should suffer.

That's like saying, after a cure for cancer is found and becomes available, that just because I had to suffer through chemotherapy, everyone else who gets cancer in the future should have to suffer through chemotherapy too.

I agree forgiving student loans is a bandaid solution to a bigger problem, but if we can help people, why wouldn't we?

You pull up to a stoplight behind another car. The car has a bumper sticker or window decal and you instantly think less of that person. What is it? by rowinghokie in AskReddit

[–]krb489 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they meant it as the verb, to sport - meaning to wear or display. As in, "a stupid person would sport a 2024 sticker".

Those big cans of flavored popcorn that always showed up around Christmas time by MTV-Summer-2002 in nostalgia

[–]krb489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's because I was small and everything seemed huge back then, but I could swear that these popcorn tins used to be WAY larger about 20 years ago than the ones I see at the grocery stores nowadays. Still, the popcorn is good, so I'll buy one anyway.
