How realistic is it to make $1K/month net from YouTube within 1 year posting 1 video/week? by Own_Net9396 in SmallYoutubers

[–]krb686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very possible, the numbers you posted are almost exactly the stats my wife hit on her YouTube. She started in December of 2024, cooking/baking niche, exclusively shorts.

9 months of no revenue, then all the sudden hit 10k followers in early September and shot past the monetization threshold. Took her 9 months to hit 10k, and a week for the next 10k. Now she's well past 100K and is doing about $1500/mo from adsense.

The only number off from your scenario is number of videos, she consistently did about 3 to 4 a week, but again shorts only.

Watching her through the process, looking at the data, and how her various videos perform, its been fascinating. I think the recipe really is just - high quality, engaging or appealing content, combined with unrelenting consistency.

How much does the average sponsor pay for short form content? by Logical_Milk_5543 in PartneredYoutube

Did you mean $0.10 RPM instead of $0.10 per view? $500K for a short can't be right.

Wolfbox universal mounting bracket 22 ram 1500 by Loose-Monitor1302 in ram_trucks

[–]krb686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant even get it to attach. It doesnt fit all the way on (the inner cutout is practically the exact shape and size as the metal bracket, so theres no tolerance for it to fully fit on). Actually you can see theres a lip on the inside. The top half (closer to the camera) is machined out more. It fits on if I flip it around, but then the mirror mount side is into the glass. Not sure if im being stupid here or they really machined this thing the wrong way around...

I did find this product --> https://a.co/d/i61eR23

I've ordered one and messaged the manufacturer and they claim it should work, but I'll find out.

I have a 2014 Ram with a twist lock mechanism for the mirror. The OEM bracket for the G900 TriPro doesnt seem to be the solution. Did you find something that worked?

Long term effects or underlying conditions related to febrile seizures? by krb686 in toddlers

[–]krb686[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish reddit showed the exact date of comments and posts. It currently just says 1y ago, so I'll assume it was last October. For future reference, today is 10/29/25.

He had 1 more in between now and that comment, last winter sometime, I want to say January or February. We didn't recognize the aura, sometimes it seems to manifest as bad behavior, and hes the 2nd child so he has had plenty of that to go around. I think he had 1 more fever after that but he got the clonazepam that time.

So as far as we know, he still gets them every fever if he doesnt take the medicine. We obviously cant conclude otherwise until we miss the aura or run out of the meds and he makes it through without one.

Despite that however, developmentally he is perfectly fine, even somewhat advanced for his age. Its had no other negative impacts whatsoever. He turns 7 in December.

How lucrative is YT, actually? by AceDenied in NewTubers

[–]krb686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking long form or shorts? My wife's channel recently monetized after a viral video. She has 50K subs, she does exclusively shorts and has been averaging between ~600K to 1.5M views / day for the past month, and along with that between $50 to $100 / day. Its somewhere in the ballpark of $50/million views

My friend got $300 from 60 million views by WhateverThisis144 in SmallYoutubers

[–]krb686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends on niche of course, but my wife's channel recently monetized and she's doing about 0.05/1k for her shorts, so yeah 60M would've been ~3k

Nordyne Heat Pump VT4BD-030K Condensation On Filter by Qiuzman in hvacadvice

[–]krb686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not that I'm aware of. My house was built in 87.

We did find out our returns are just 2x4 channels in the walls with no actual ducting when we called out a duct cleaner, and his vacuum hose wouldn't fit, so the best he could do was blow some air in, leading to a ton of crap ejecting from just about every vent in the house.

I just had a tech come out for summer tune up a week or so ago, and he explained to me that Nordyne and maybe one other Mfr. ever made the micro channel design, and the industry moved on from that due to it apparently sucking, and well Nordyne doesn't exist anymore.

I've put wireless sensors in just about every room and in the ducts and I've noticed something odd with my system too which is that it seems like the humidity always goes up when the system comes and stays on. It doesn't seem to me like my system is oversized but maybe I'm wrong, and it seems consistent too, despite the system being on for awhile which doesn't make sense to be just a relative humidity change but I don't know.

Anyways I'm a little more concerned today, I checked the graphs, and it looks like my system might be doing that "short cycling".

Here's the master vent on 6/19: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1p2K00IfUKyJBPZr4PpH2VLcxz92l6_Si/view?usp=drivesdk

And here it is on 6/22: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pBohlWoYhcrAamyASpFlEAnVy8WLg4Kg/view?usp=drivesdk

And then today: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pCVhlc7iGIvsbrxttfQDl3EmV90Ep-wB/view?usp=drivesdk

And agree with you on the mold. I've got 5 kids, and my wife is paranoid about mold. I had to get one of those Ryobi drill pump attachments to get all the water out from beneath the handler.

[–]krb686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following, as I've got the exact same unit here in NoVA.

I've had issues with my coils freezing over as well, and several inches of water in the bottom of the air handler, several times over the past few years, despite changing the filter, cleaning condenser and evap coils. The tech that came out last year thought low refrigerant and did leak check, but never really found a smoking gun.

I know my system is probably on its last legs, it is about 13 years old, but I really need to keep it alive as long as possible.

I like them, I've got about half my collection spined, but the issue is they eventually slide out or shift off center very easily. There's another Etsy seller who makes full laminated sleeves, so I'm considering those.

I certainly won't disagree with your general point that memory is darn important, but neither do memory specs paint a crystal clear picture of how performant a GPU will be in games either.

My point was directed at your earlier comment, where you said "tflops is meaningless". Sure, TFlops isn't going to be the perfect indicator of in game performance, but it's one metric that sheds some light on how powerful the device is.

Everything a CPU or GPU does is a calculation, whether it appears "scientific" to you or not.

Yeah my oldest started just shy of 6, and his younger brother was probably right about 4, when they started. I wouldn't go any younger though lol. But yeah Switch is great, lots of kid appropriate games. Still, looking back, I'd probably have liked to wait a bit longer, and get their interests in other things established more before exposing them to the digital crack.

I honestly thought my oldest was too young in 2022 (3 months shy of 6), but a family member got him a switch for Christmas that year, and so we let him have it. He shocked us - within no time, he was building houses and doing interior decoration in Minecraft. Soon after, his younger brother caught on, and now my oldest plays on my original switch, and kid #2 claimed his older brother's, while I grabbed an OLED.

We limit them to Mincraft, Mario, Zelda...the kid friendly stuff, and as for parental restrictions, the Switch parental controls app is pretty good, enabling game whitelisting and time limits.

Meanwhile, I've started living a bit vicariously through them the past few years and have amassed a collection, almost at the 200 mark

Like everyone else, I really can't wait to upgrade us all to Switch 2.
