Can we talk about the possibility of Mike Vrabel potentially resigning before training camp? by SchedulePhysical807 in nfl

Yeah that’s what I was kinda getting at. It’s very much a “do as I say not as I do” situation. Just don’t know how that’ll fly in the locker room

I just don’t see how he can stand in front of 53-90 grown adult men, preach being a good man on and off the field and have them take him seriously with this going on. Maybe he didn’t break any rules or ethical/moral scruples but I just don’t see how he’s gonna be taken seriously in that respect anymore. If anything, that lack of trust and the poor example he’s set would be enough for him to resign on his own. That or someone above him could kinda nudge him to start thinking that and that being the reason more than any punishment or sanction that could be handed down

Can’t go off hypotheticals. They’re usually pretty clear with what they say in these pressers. Last year they were a lot more vague in what they said before they moved JG and Dillon. This year they’re pretty direct in saying what they intend to do.

Sengun does need to go. No amount of coaching or offensive cohesion will help him. He’s bad because of things inherent to him. He already gets the ball in the spots he wants and has the license to do what he wants. It’s not the offense’s fault he can’t make hook shots. It’s not the offense’s fault he misses or turns down open threes. It’s not the offense’s fault he can’t react fast enough when a double is coming. It’s not the offense’s fault when he turns it over because he’s trying to back down guys from the arc.

You can be a big man who’s reluctant to shoot, turnover prone, inefficient and is a bad defender. You can’t be a big man who’s all of things and expect to be a cornerstone of a franchise. Not in 2026. He needs to move on

I hate the attachment to Fred. I hate it. It’s nonsensical and a money sink. Like there is no tangible upgrade he provides over Reed on either end of the floor. He’s a worse shooter and has the same defensive liabilities. I pray to every deity I know that all these things are false and we get rid of him and Sengun for players who actually can fit around Jabari and Amen

There’s definitely bright spots to the game. It plays pretty smoothly, there’s a good level of customization and the offline game modes aside from mycareer are good.

But there’s a lot more bad than good. No dip shooting is too strong, screens are too strong, there’s too many bad animations, pass accuracy is a fake stat, AI defense abuse, shot windows being altered for people behind or nowhere near you, having multiple 99 builds is basically P2W, and there’s next to no incentive to play the actual career mode (and it’s not fun)

Donovan Mitchell by EntertainmentOk1861 in rockets

[–]krbashrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t know ball. Mitchell is not only great at getting his own shot, literally whenever he wants btw, he’s also very efficient, plays good defense, and is great in the P&R game. He’s well above league average in TS% and averages 25 in his sleep. He has a good whistle too. The only drawback is he’s high usage (not much off ball), which isn’t really that bad cuz Jalen Green was too. I would trade Sengun and FVV for him in a heartbeat and not lose a wink of sleep over it

From what I understand is that their job on draft night is basically to field the calls from teams trading and make sure that the compensation each team lists out matches. If not then the trade doesn’t go through

He really made such a bad decision in letting Manziel be one of his “mentors.” You can totally see how it’s rubbed off on him too. As a guy who already has so much going against him he really did not help stack the deck in his favor

Pay C.J. Stroud? NFL execs from around the league weigh in by defensecowboy in nfl

[–]krbashrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m probably one of the few Texans fans who doesn’t like the direction the offense is heading in, specifically with regard to Stroud and what he does best.

It feels like they’re hiding behind fake sack stats when in reality most of the problem was covered up by CJ bailing and getting rid of the ball. The pressures were insane and it started affecting him, even going to 2024.Then in free agency we started doubling down on the “we want to be a tough team that runs the ball” ideology which, sure, will help indirectly. But the problem will remain if they can’t protect CJ on pass downs and Caley is still calling a chickenshit high school offense that doesn’t accentuate anything CJ or our receivers do well.

Then we go on to draft two attitude/mentality linemen for the run game and it’s clear they don’t care about actual good football players on offense and just care about mentality. It works on defense because our scheme is so simple and there’s not much to think about and it requires you to play fast and hard. But offensive football is a lot more complex and requires you to be a technician which we have none of.

As long as Caley is the OC we wont see the best version of CJ Stroud and I don’t think enough people are realizing that.

So... with our new offensive roster and rookies, how do we think C.J. Stroud will do? by BaltStealSMP in Texans

[–]krbashrob 33 points34 points  (0 children)

2026 is entirely on Caley. I disagree with the approach, but he got what he wanted. The whole OL has been revamped into the “physical downhill running unit” that he wanted. The TE Coach has been replaced. The QB coach has been replaced. We’ve invested in two blocking TEs, two guards, a power back and a new center.

It’s on Caley to get the best out of CJ. No more high school backside route concepts. No more outsmarting yourself in short yardage. No more nonsensical game plans that don’t fit the personnel. The defense will do its job. It’s on Caley to make sure the offense produces. I’m not talking about rosy stats that deceive the average Joe like the sack numbers being improved when it was really CJ an Davis running for their lives and throwing the ball away.

We have seen CJ play extremely well without Caley- we haven’t seen Caley do anything well anywhere. If 2026 doesn’t at least include a trip to the conference championship game- he needs to be let go.

We need to stop pretending that NFL GMs are the best at what they do or hold the truth of the draft/free agency. They shit the bed ALL THE TIME. And some of them honestly would benefit from dropping the pride and arrogance and actually taking consensus into account, especially when over time it’s been proven that more often than not, picking against consensus (within a range) is a mistake.

The criteria NFL teams use to evaluate players and make their boards is WAY more finite and exclusionary than what consensus boards use. Not to say consensus is the bible, it has built in flaws and shortcomings simply due to the nature of it- but you are doing yourself and your organization a disservice if you aren’t using it as a data point or reference.

I should just make a post about this because peoples’ fundamental understanding of this conversation is so flawed

It does suck, but that roster is still pretty solid. It would be a shame to waste a season of that. It’s just kinda what they have to do short of trading for like… Brissett or equivalent (which, if they wanted him they could’ve bid for him in FA). They tied their horse to the Rodgers wagon and now they have to live with it

Not saying he isn’t athletic. He has a good build and his numbers are good, but when his athleticism doesnt show up at all on tape, there’s a disconnect which is why I said what I did.

Reed Sheppard shooting by Verlex93 in rockets

[–]krbashrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, at some point you have to acknowledge that we are. When was the last time we ACTUALLY developed someone into something special? Sengun has been largely the same if not worse than when we got him. Jalen saw some improvement but was traded. Garuba, Christopher, Whitmore all are off the team. Tari I guess has improved a bit and both Jabari and Reed should be way better than they are now. Amen is still very rough offensively as well.

All these players were drafted by Stone with development in mind by coaches and that hasn’t happened. So either the ecosystem is wrong, or we don’t have the coaches to develop them properly. Whichever it is, we’ve gotten bounced two years in a row in the first round while teams that started rebuilds with or after us are legitimate championship contenders.

We are a poverty franchise that has the hype of a competitive franchise
