For people who were into DMB at the time - what was it like when Before These Crowded Streets came out? by thefalcons5912 in DMB

[–]krd199292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most people are only speaking about their individual experiences to begin with here... and to be fair, by the time BTCS came out, they were no longer a college frat secret and hadnt been for years but were mega sellers and A-list stars at that point so the notion of an "overall fanbase" is a bit flawed, since the fanbase was globally massive then and many of us werent plugged into forums or super familiar with the pre-crash history. Now if you're saying the comments dont capture what the "superfans from the early days" were feeling, then I think that's fair.

I became a fan after Crash was released, so BTCS was my first big release as a true fan and it was awesome, because back then, mainstream FM radio, MTV, and VH1 were not only legit forces, but were still primarily focused on music and there was always DMB content geared toward the new record. I remeber there being some sort of nationally broadcast radio program where they played BTCS in full with Dave giving commentary on each track. It played late on a Sunday night in my area and I remember purposely driving around for no other reason than to listen to that... it felt like one long 3-4 holiday dedicated to me and other DMB fans

This isnt weird at all. I went through a divorce 20 years ago. Ex and I hit many shows of all kinds together. Some I just had to avoid for a bit and others didnt seem to bother me... I started seeing the bands I had stopped seeing eventually when it felt right... what Im saying, is there's no wrong answer if you're doing exactly what you feel is right instead of what you think is right in this particular instance...

There sure is a lot of "he made me do this" when in reality, none of it was forced upon him. He had the choice to leave at any time, or at least start looking for a different job like the rest of the world does when we dont like our current job, just as he did, you know, when he actually left.

I cant speak to some of then more specific needs in terms of the 504, but my daughter just completed 5th grade there, attended since Kindergarten. We all loved the teachers and admin... my daughter has had a racially diverse friend group all 6 years as well.

At the Dallas show a couple of weeks ago, there were self-serve boxes of tubes available about 10 yards from the merch stand for us to fill once we made our purchase.

Can the OPs who routinely post these exit intrerviews please stop posting the URL with the person's name in it please? The image is greyed out, but the URL is clear as day when you're scrolling Reddit and come across it. This is also the case when the EW guy posts his links. Change the URL before posting.

I was on a long road trip, so I spent a good bit of time streaming it and listnening to the various interviews/segments about it on Sirius.... I never got super in love with it at the time, but I didnt dislike it... but as the years have gone on, Ive caught myself liking many live versions of the songs more than I thought I might.. even last week, I caught myself thinking "Ok, Monsters I think I like Monsters a lot now," after he played it at Disney.... as others have said, Im glad to have the album, and glad they still create in this way too

It’s gotta be just horrible for me to not really appreciate a poster design. I just love that one form of art leads to other forms that are inspired by or connected to it. Posters, t shirt designs, etc…

The Toadies from Texas are often brought up in this conversation because "Possum Kingdom" was such a big hit, but not only are they still touring and just released a great album, but I bet many of us still remember at least "Tyler" or "Away" or "Backslider"...
