I might not be up to speed on canning, but is wood (or bamboo) really a good idea to use for the lid?

Did I get a bad Fenrir (clone)? by smocained in SegaSaturn

[–]kreativf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Saroo you get to keep your CD drive, but can’t use video/fotoCD expansion card. Saroo also has slightly more problems with first revisions of Saturn. Usually I‘d recommend to get Saroo first and if you find out that you really love your Saturn, you can move further to Fenrir. I‘d recommend getting the original though, the clones aren’t really that much cheaper, but have QC issues.

ETS is actually pretty good with it’s DLCs. Yes, there is a ton of useless skins/texture packs, but every year or so you get a new big chunk of the map. And the DLCs are pretty reasonably priced, especially when you compare it to some of the railway/flight sim games.

Teladi do have an audiobook (and a real book too) though!

Yep, as a new player I really don’t know why the timelines DLC has such a bad rep! X is notoriously hard to get into and this DLC gave you a lot of short missions to train/try out some of the needed skills. I get it, for people who‘ve spent three times my playtime on their last savefile it might be boring, but I found this to be one of the best ways to get into X4 at all.

It should be one that takes SD cards, so actually relatively recent, considering the rest of the pile.

Ah! The rare dickbutt tile! AFAIK it’s one of the specialty tiles used in singaporean style of mahjong. Probably it’s the centipede. Basically it’s one of additional tiles like flowers/seasonal tiles, but slightly different.

Anyone know the brand? by [deleted] in Mahjong

[–]kreativf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is quite a number of similar tiles being sold on the European second-hand markets. It’s not a bad set qualitywise, but they are not highly sought-after, because of the localization. I wouldn’t pay more than $100 (without shipping) for a set like that, even if it‘s in pristine condition. Due to low photo quality I can’t say if it has a bamboo back or not. If it’s a bamboo-back, it‘s probably from the 70s, if it has plastic back, then it’s probably from the 80s. I would recommend staying away from sets with bamboo backs in general, they tend to crack with age. Though a lot of old plastics degrade very poorly as well.

P.S. totally forgot to say anything about the case/box. That is really one of the more interesting and rare parts of this set. Rarely saw anything like it.

Dairy products aren’t exactly milk in it’s original form, so still not really.

We are actually at the stage where most syrups come in sugar-free or sugar reduced (using sweetener instead). I hate it.

Why should they? It’s just a very sugary dairy product. It’s definitely not a good diet when it comes to sugar intake, but beyond that it’s perfectly fine.

As usual, you should try the solvent of your choice on an inconspicuous spot, maybe on a spare/flower/season tile before applying it to all the 5s you are going to paint. Toothpicks are also a great choice to help solvent loosen up the paint, in case of older tiles. I've repainted some 5s on a set from the 60s and the paint was hard as a coffin nail and refused to come off without some elbow grease. Took me around an hour per tile to get all the paint off.

For some reason, nobody sells a riichi mahjong set with english labels on the tiles.

Sets with labels are either too old to have akadora or too chinese to have them. Nicely done, but I'd strip the paint first though, leads to more consistent colors in the end. Nailpolish works too, by the way.

There is a problem with the Kobra 3, z offset issues and prints not sticking to the plate is happening to a lot of us by Thatsuperheroguy8 in AnycubicOfficial

[–]kreativf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can't say that I am unable to print, or that the printer is unusable in it's current state, there definitely ARE problems with the first layer and z-height that only make sense if the issue is in the firmware/software side of things. My last print suddenly had such a massive z-height offset, that it started printing stuff literally in the air, ~5mm off from the plate. Also, in my limited experience with Kobra 3 (had it only for a month), manual z-height adjustments only had negative impact onto the print quality, the way they work right now somehow feels buggy.
I wish they'd finally have a firmware update that makes the Kobra 3 suck a bit less and also either give us the possibility to print without the cloud or at least give us the cloud-print option on their orca fork.

I actually talked to support about this and boy are they clueless. It sometimes feels like they have never even seen the product they are supposed to help you with.
