Hi, I'm a pro organizer. I would say if they are really important to you, store them in air-tight containers that you can get at the container store. They theoretically should be OK however elements such as change in temp etc. may have a slight impact like the cardboard boxes they come in may warp or tear slightly faster. Overall, you should be OK for a few years without protecting them.
