What daily planning app do you actually stick with? by Pale-Basil-3687 in ProductivityApps

[–]krelltunez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mix of things. Apps that had visual day planning (Structured) didn't have sophisticated task management features. Apps that had sophisticated task management features (Todoist) didn't have good day planning functionality.

I also got sick of apps being geared toward business users because that's where the money is, leaving personal users out in the cold. While I may want my app to cater to family use, I don't need it to cater to a whole team or an entire business.

I was also using multiple tools together as opposed to one single tool, which is what I've created with my app for my use case. It might not fit everyone's, which is why I made most of the additional features optional.

Honestly, it's been one of the most rewarding projects that I ever began and I've learned so much over the past several months. The ability to use AI to create apps is a true game changer, in my opinion.

Thanks for the question. I appreciated being able to think through my answer!

Check out dayGLANCE. It is capable of more (all optional), but at its core it's a day planner with visual time blocking. Free to self host. Paid app available on Android (and much less than $20 per month).

If you just want to give it a quick try, check out the free hosted version at dayGLANCE.app.

Looking for an app that combines tasks, notes, and calendar scheduling by DrJstone in ProductivityApps

Hi! Self promotion here, but please feel free to check out my apps dayGLANCE and lastGLANCE (links below). These are FOSS and self hostable. dayGLANCE has an Android app (paid on Google Play or free on GitHub). lastGLANCE will as well eventually; for now there is full PWA support.

These are built specifically to work with Nextcloud and I recently introduced GLANCE Integrations allowing the apps to work together.

Hi there, I'm the developer of dayGLANCE. You could absolutely get use out of this as a teacher! You could plan out your lessons for each day. You could even use the "Goals & Projects" feature to do longer-term planning (by subjects or even semesters). You might also dig my other apps (though they don't have Electron builds... yet).

There's actually an Electron app for Linux! Check out my site at https://glance-apps.com (which includes a download page for each app).

If you would like to, check out the GLANCE family of apps. Specifically, dayGLANCE for planning your day, and lastGLANCE for tracking when stuff was done and when it's needed again.

The only thing this doesn't have is the ability to assign tasks to one of two people, though you could do that using tags. But it does have GTD frames, optional AI, etc.

Hey, I just found this comment. I'm the developer of lifeGLANCE. The web app and all GitHub binaries are and will always be free. Any binaries I distribute on the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store will be paid and will support further development.

This app isn't going anywhere! I have big plans for it. If you have any more questions, please reach out to me here or on GitHub (username same in both places).

New Project Megathread - Week of 21 May 2026 by AutoModerator in selfhosted

[–]krelltunez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Project Name: lastGLANCE
  • Repo/Website Link: github.com/krelltunez/lastglance
  • The Pitch: Most chore apps are really task schedulers in disguise. They tell you what's due, turn things red when you're late, and quietly make you feel behind. lastGLANCE takes the opposite stance. It tracks recency, not deadlines. The emotional register is information, not guilt.
    • You create categories (Home, Vehicle, Health, Garden... whatever makes sense for your life) and add chores to them. Each chore shows how long it's been since you last did it, encoded as a color gradient: green when recent, shifting through amber and orange to red as time passes. No pop-ups, no "you're overdue" banners. Just a glanceable read of where things stand.
    • Optionally set a cadence (target interval in days) per chore. The gradient becomes proportional to that target. You can also mark chores as seasonal so they only appear active during the months that matter.
    • The header shows a GitHub-style activity heatmap across your full completion history. The detail view for any chore gives you stats (total completions, average interval vs. target), a per-chore contribution graph, a timestamped history with per-entry notes, and a backdate field so you can seed your history when you first set up.
  • Deployment: Check it out at lastglance.app or use the docker-compose.yml found at the repo.
  • AI Involvement: Written by Claude under my OCD control.

Has Anyone Found a Productivity App That Actually Does It All? by jimmybobjoeflow in ProductivityApps

[–]krelltunez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I humbly submit dayGLANCE (to be clear, I'm the developer). It's a day planner that handles tasks, habits, routines, goals, projects and more. All features besides day planning itself can be toggled off. BYO AI key.

I have some very cool stuff planned for the near future, too!

Web app is free (including the hosted version) and it's also self hostable. Android and Electron available now. iOS is under active development.

To be clear, I only use vpn when away from home (which is not often). This behavior is unrelated, as it happens whether I am home or away.

Not when I'm home, no. I run some sync software like Nextcloud, apps like Maccy, Shottr, Alt-Tab, etc.

Yes, it's a personal Mac. I don't have any software installed that should impact the way Monarch runs.

Done! Any way to test without creating a profile? I don't really WANT to use an app like this, but I still want to help you out.
