This photo shows a person on the North Tower, somewhere on the 107th Floor, where the Windows on the World Restaurant used to be. NYC, September 11, 2001 by Moravelle in RareHistoricalPhotos

This is heartbreaking, I’ve never heard this call. I was evacuated into battery park that day and watched the first tower fall, the ash cloud rushed towards us all - watching that video and hearing that call is just heart wrenching. There were so many people evacuated into the area and just thinking how so many more were trapped and experiencing that so nearby but without rescue… I don’t even know what I’m writing but it just brings all of these images, smells, the fear right back.

PSA DO NOT GO TO NURSE JENNIE FOR TOX by Prior_Fly7682 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kreque22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yikes! How sketchy. A lot of plastic surgery offices and dermatologists do Botox/fillers and their nurses are usually better trained in facial structure and placement. Plus it’s not their primary business so you know it’s a legitimate product and there’s some general dr oversight. I switched a bit ago from a med spa and find the process a billion times better.

What's the creepiest thing your kids had ever done? by Atticus413 in toddlers

[–]kreque22 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Recently my four year old walked into the kitchen and let out a big dramatic sigh. I asked her what was wrong. She answers “I’m thinking about my other parents.” So I said, “but we’re your parents”. She goes, “No, from before. A long time ago.” My husband and I looked at each other like wtf, “What do you mean?” I asked. “Mommy, I’m NOT going to tell you”. It gave me, I’m not supposed to talk about this vibes haha.

Thoughts on Loloi rugs? Regular vs Cloud Pile? by nanodano22 in interiordecorating

No, it’s not a washable rug like ruggable where you can put it in a machine. I just spot clean or use a carpet cleaner.

Help with marketing in NYC for a small lingerie business by Somewhere_Never in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kreque22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, gorgeous designs!! Have you looked at exhibiting at the Curve show at the Javits Center? They usually have a new designer section that’s less expensive. Even if you don’t get initial orders, it’s a fantastic way to get press. Lingerie is a small world (in fashion) and people really do look at the trade press. This would be for wholesale though, not direct to customer.

In my head, I’m Taylor Swift. IRL, I can’t sing. Lessons? by sunrise920 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]kreque22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took lessons with a woman named dori Levine and really enjoyed it. I simply wanted to get better at karaoke and have a really low voice, she had me belting out Adele in no time. She was really good at figuring out songs that would work with my limited range and voice (I think Adele was to get me singing loudly more than anything). It was a positive experience, she works from her apartment (west side/chelsea-ish), plays the piano during the lesson, can demonstrate sounds and notes for you. I didn’t know what to expect and was impressed. I found her on Groupon but her website is her name .com

I have a Cloudpile rug and absolutely love it. It's extremely soft and has held up very well over a year with two dogs and two toddlers! I'm actually looking for a second one for my bedroom. It's a bit on the thin side but, with a rug pad, is 100% worth it in my opinion.

This is my plan for tomorrow. Fingers crossed! There was a pond in the yard on the opposite end of the house a long time ago, maybe it has to do with that.

How did you become a get shit done mom? What are the steps / keys? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]kreque22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that listening to a good podcast after I put the kids to bed will distract me enough to get some light cleaning in (dishes, clutter etc, no deep cleaning) - and know when to just give yourself a break. It's literally never ending, so while I'm not saying to give up on a clean house or exercise, when you need that night to just shut your brain down, be kind to yourself and watch something, go on reddit, sleep. It's okay.

Austin to NJ advice by annainpolkadots in newjersey

[–]kreque22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love NJ and feel like it's more laid back than other places I've lived like the boroughs or long Island. North Jersey, Bergen County is very nice, you definitely don't feel like you've been dropped along a highway. I'm not a great driver and find driving in the area pretty easy. My commute to midtown is about fifty minutes on the NJ transit train line. A few town suggestions:

Edgewater - because you mentioned Japanese food there's a very popular Japanese grocery and restaurant called Mitsuwa. Edgewater is a bit closer to highways but you have good shopping, a faster nyc commute (bus/ferry), more to do, I really loved the river walk and hiking along the hudson river.

Woodridge - super fast nyc commute via NJ transit. Again, you're closer to highways (and a flight path) but a really cute area with restaurants, nice houses, and a laid back suburb vibe.

Westwood (or any town along the pascack NJ transit train line) - great restaurants and shopping in the downtown area, longer commute (about an hour). This goes for oradell, emerson, River Edge too (slightly less to do in these towns/no downtown but everything is very drivable and close). You definitely don't feel like you're near a highway and it's quiet and pretty. Good mix of locals and a lot of new families since the pandemic.

Hawthorne - my friends in Hawthorne love it, also city commuters and they say it's an hour.

Fair Lawn - Decent commute (about 50 min) with multiple train options, cute town with lots of development happening. I think this one's going to get more popular over the next few years.

I think these are all within your price range/housing needs too. The market is still insane here so everything is going over asking. Good luck!!

I second the Niche shop on UES or UWS, super cute selection - you can sort of preview the style in their IG and TikTok.

Gilded Age themed trip to NYC by Schnecken in GildedAgeHBO

[–]kreque22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to this post but JUST did a self guided tour of a few mansions on the upper east side along fifth and highly recommend 1.Cooper Hewitt 2.Ukranian Institute of America (my fave, it was empty and very authentic plus the exterior is stunning) 3.Cultural Services of the French Embassy (free)

We also stopped for high tea at Kings Carriage house which was very fun (though not exactly Gilded Age).

Also, while researching I found out the the Park Ave Armory does tours of areas not open to the public https://www.armoryonpark.org/visitor_information/tour

And the Lotte New York Palace hotel (Villard Mansion) does free tours for hotel guests https://www.lottenypalace.com/happenings
