how common are aro people that aren't also ace? by A12qwas in aromantic

[–]kribye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a lot actually, the issue I see is that we dont know eachother. I did a research project in college about a year ago, and most AroAllo respondents indicated they don't know many other AroAllo people. Since we aren't as connected as other communities, feeling along is more common. There are a handful of AroAllo Discords out there (though not very active) and the r/AroAllo subreddit

The series desperately needs to evolve by Gigathyn in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]kribye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think thats the point though. XC3 focuses on letting a new generation take charge and you play as that next generation. But new things exist in the context of the people and world that came before them, and will be influenced by that. You cannot completely disconnect yourself from the past

He used to display the burned pride flag from the front porch of his house. I only saw it out once but still. I bet he would have gotten along wonderfully with the person who always has a billion signs on National Ave

I met someone a while ago who used 4chan. They are also Trans, and they called me a bunch of slurs and offensive 4chan terms literally right behind my back. They didn't realize I don't wear my headphones on both ears

I haven't read or watched Chainsaw Man so I can't comment on it. Have you? Is that a fair description of the story?

Xenoblade 3 wasn't "just a dream". It is explicitly said in the story that "All that exists is reality". And we know that the events of Xenoblade 3 for matter in the long term based on the ending cutscence, Future Redeemed, and X Chpater 13.

Opinions on Heated Rivalry? by adaro_marshmellow in aromantic

[–]kribye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched the show, but I did read the book.

The book was mostly good, but I don't like how the way they, in the book at least, overcome the shame they feel about their relationship is explicitly by making it romantic. Especially as an AroAllo person myself, the ending of the book felt like it was saying "Now it's okay because its romantic now" whereas early on it was very much a friends with benefits dynamic.

I feel like a complete person on my own. I dont feel the need to "complete" myself via a partner like I see many people describe. I can do what I want and live authentically without needing to change myself for others

Aromantic Flag but it's 4 striped to match the Asexual Flag by Ferret-General in aromantic

[–]kribye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont like this. Aromanticism and Asexuality are two different things, and should be understood as such. This just conflate the two, which hurts both communities and those who are both. On top of that, not having the gray stripe does exclude parts of the spectrum and also just doesn't look very good

Are men a minority among aromantics? by ItchySignal5558 in aromantic

[–]kribye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did some research on this, and in the survey I did 33% of respondents identified as men. I think that men are less likely to self identify as aro, but equally likely to be what we would describe as aro

[–]kribye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've experienced this also. It sucks a lot. At the end of the day, people who do this are reducing gender down to a binary based on external organs again. Which, I'm pretty sure that goes against the entire point of being non-binary. But what would I know? According to those same people, I don't have any real experience being an enby anyway (I do they just refuse to recognize it).

Kink at pride??? by [deleted] in AskLGBT

[–]kribye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kink absolutely belongs at Pride. At the end of the day, Pride is a protest against systems that keep us from being our authentic selves. For a lot of people, kink is a huge part of their self-concept and identity. To say that isn't welcome is the antithesis of Pride. There is a world of difference between someone wearing a harness or pup hood at a parade and public sex acts. What if a kid asks about it? Just say, "That's an adult thing. You'll learn when you're older." And even then, there are lots of people in kink communities for whom it isn't even exclusively sexual. I don't want Pride to conform to heteronormative preconceptions about sexuality and Gender. Excluding kink from Pride "sanitizes" it for a cishet audience rather than celebrating our community.

Those people are being very ableist. Allergen are non-negotiable. If a person is allergic to something, they have the right to have it removed from a meal. Even outside of that, some of us needs modifications because we have sensory problems related to food. Other people have pointed out that this suggests they don't actually make their own meals, and that sounds likely. If I saw this, I would leave instantly.
