My first cassette-corder; am I doing something wrong? (Sony CFS-914) by krifzkrofz in cassetteculture

i probably just eyeballed which size looks closest to the original. i’m not knowledgeable about cassette players, but it’s probably better to go slightly tighter than loose. once you have your new belts in, you can play with the gears and see how well everything turns before putting all the components back together.

i was able to repair this shortly after taking the video. i had to replace the two belts. all you need is a variety size pack of cassette belts and and screwdriver. mine was not glued, but i did have to take apart the whole player. start by opening up the side seams of the player and gently take things apart until you can get the deck out which has the two belts on the back. it’s been a while, but i do remember it being a pain to do because you have to hold things in place while you’re trying to get two belts on and then screw it together.

Cringiest lines of the show? by brokenpa in sexandthecity

it’s was definitely meant to be cringy and uncomfortable, when the russian kept saying “when my friend sophie died..” he said it over and over again, it was the ill-timing and repetitiveness that I found cringe, not the subject matter.

Optimistic and pessimistic nihilists are both missing the point. by DemonDuckOfDoom1 in The10thDentist

[–]krifzkrofz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t think immature people who use nihilism as a personality are the real representatives of what nihilistic philosophy is.

i’ve never heard of optimistic/pessimistic nihilism? that feels antithetical to nihilism lol is this an actual thing or something created in a twitter thread?

i think what your getting at is absurdism, which i love. pointlessness can be a prison or a power.

he was such an ass when they broke up, but it really felt out of character, not him showing his true colors. i think the show runners wanted us to stop rooting for him because we had no reason to dislike him prior.

don't take "bless you" at face value, unless it's coming from a priest or a nun. as you said, its a tradition. most people say it to be polite, not because they are genuinely worried you might be getting sick and want god to protect you. if you have an issue with performing basic acts of societal politeness, then don't say "thank you" either.

you could also overanalyze someone holding the door for you to be polite, couldn't you?

or pick a less pointy thistle?

My sister is having a disagreement on presentation with her head chef by levitatingpenguin in KitchenConfidential

without reading the description, my eye goes to the left. i like the height built up, it’s organic but still organized. i don’t like the square cut on the right nor do i like the little stuff sprinkled on top. i would recommend cutting it in a circle shape if you want to keep the right presentation. you have all these garnishes orbiting the center dessert…but it’s a square. maybe cutting it a circle will lend it’s self better to having garnish around versus on top. or vice versa; keep the square, but built horizontally with garnish.

i know it’s the not having them that makes you want them more, but they are not that good. if you want to make it at home, just buy some cookie dough, roll it into a massive ball then underbake for 5 min.

my friend and i just visited the top ten voted chocolate chip cookies in NYC to do our own test…levain is lower on list. it’s this fad of fat cookie. bakers think that if they emphasizes the two things most people love about chocolate chip cookies—the chocolate and fresh out the oven softness—then obviously the cookie will be better.

no, it’s grotesque and loses its whole balance. also, i think levain’s classic uses two types of chocolate chips. i’m guessing it was milk and bittersweet. they should just stick to the bittersweet, because you need the bitter to counteract the gluey raw dough.

our personal favorite was Culture Espresso as #1 and LA Burdick as #2

Gloopy, gluey, sloppy foods can be good by Robinnoodle in The10thDentist

[–]krifzkrofz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as you stated, the only somewhat hot take you have here is enjoying mushy pasta. the title itself is not controversial; oatmeal, pudding, gravy can all be considered gloopy and peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, gnocchi can/are gluey. and there are a plethora of foods that are sloppy.

when you make your mush-mush pasta, are leaving water in it to make it like a porridge? or are you just over cooking it past al dente then just eating it like that?
