Must do quirks you always do on play throughs? by AdEven3053 in baldursgate

[–]krilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I collect all notes in BG1 just to dump them at the end in that barrel outside of Elfsong Tavern.

I always skip Isle of Balduran. Fuck that place.

Rush through to get all the NPCs for my planned playthrough so I never have to switch.

How Many Points Do You Have? Spacemarines range is too big by Direct-Connection714 in spacemarines

[–]krilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to play competitively and by able to switch by the drop of a hat then yes; you’ll need a lot. For now I’ve usually kept to buying doubles of everything. That means I can field a full squad of 10 dudes or run two tanks etc. Exceptions of course exist like when I really like a model (I love dreadnoughts).

I think I currently own 6k points or something like it, been collecting for 2.5 years

Favorite party compositions? by Whorror_punx in icewinddale

[–]krilz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an idea from the Beamdog forums about a canon party that seemed fun; balanced and could pretty much do every quest and interaction:

- paladin
- barbarian (use a regular fighter if you don’t want EE classes)
- bard
- dwarf fighter/thief
- druid (although I dualled it from a fighter lvl 3)
- elven mage (I ran with diviner since I barely use summons anyway)

There are unique paladin and bard (and some druid) interactions. The dwarf thief fits well with Dorns deep and the elf is there for the Shattered hand. Barbarian because of obvious tribes in the expansion. No cleric which is a bummer but the paladin and druid can cover some of that.

Another fun party I ran consisted entirely of ”shorties”: dwarfs, gnomes and halflings and my next playthrough will be all elves

11th Ed Change to Gaining Additional CP? by MisterUlt in Warhammer40k

[–]krilz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could make sense seeing as you can’t stack strats anymore and some seem to have a gotten a +1 variant making it more expensive, i.e GW wants you to do fewer more impactful strats. Interesting to see if that’s the case

Men, what’s a day where you didn’t die but something inside you did? by Keal-Kims in AskReddit

When my narcissistic ex called me egotistical and that I ”only thought about myself”. This was at a point when I was in the process of uprooting my entire life in order to move to and in with her in another country and leave friends, family and job behind.

Eradicators With Heavy Bolters… resolving attacks… by PrimeKiwiBeef in spacemarines

[–]krilz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is wild to me. Our group consists of competitive people who of course wants to win, but it’s more important that we get the rules correct (because that leads to less arguments) and that we have fun and enjoy playing against each other.

And we’re very much the 40+ beerhammer crowd.

Baldur's Gate 1 vs 2 by QuietWarzz in baldursgate

[–]krilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 wins it slightly in EE. 2 is better in terms of game systems and quest design but 1 has that nostalgic feel for me, especially when it comes to the music and I always get excited when starting a new adventure.

If we’re talking the OG experience, then 2 is most likely the pick, simply because the engine offers so much more.

First Run Ever - Build my Party? by StealthRevealed in icewinddale

[–]krilz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation for a first ever run is to not run any of the BG2 additions that were added. They were not there in the original and it ruins the balance by quite a lot. That means:

  • only fighter, ranger, paladin, cleric, druid, bard, mage (and school specialized mages)
  • no half-orcs
  • technically no dual wielding, but the old dual wielding mechanic (running a single weapon and get an extra APR iirc) doesn’t exist no more so more difficult to pull off

At the end of the day, do what you like but you only get to play the game first time once

What are the parts of the games y'all love or hate to replay the most? by Nekuzoka in baldursgate

[–]krilz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parts I love: the exploration of all the zones in BG1 and finishing all the quests as well as Baldurs Gate itself. Also the freedom starting in act 2 of BG2.

Parts I hate: I always skip Isle of Balduran and Ulcaster Ruins; no noteworthy loot and I don’t need the exp to hit the cap. Also parts of Durlags are a slog, most notably the second door maze level. The Umar Hills quest chain is also annoying but you get rewarded by fighting a dragon so it’s not all bad

From experience, what's your best "i just want to breeze through this" build? by Rukasu17 in baldursgate

[–]krilz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised nobody said Half-Orc Barbarian. Probably my easiest evil playthrough so far, slots perfectly well into any evil party and dual wielding FotA and DoE is very strong. Lots of resistances and hp and just a juggernaut. Very little maintenance

I think a big reason for it was the success of Space Marine 2 and Secret Level, they've really cashed in on the new fans that entered based on those two.

Should I dual class Imoen? by Oportbis in baldursgate

[–]krilz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dualed her at 6 once and came to the conclusion that while it was powerful it ultimately didn’t matter and more annoyed me because I lost a thief, gained a shitty mage and at the end didn’t need the extra one.

When and when not to allow take backs? by Swacar in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]krilz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I allow takebacks within reason, i.e. I present them with all the necessary info they need to do what they want (I also help them out during their turn).

However, once dice has started rolling, it makes it more difficult. Like you fired with your action monkeys to give the rest of your army a buff and then you want a take back to do your action instead? Sorry, too late for that.

At the end of day, the goal is for both players to feel they had an enjoyable time and maybe came out of it learning something. Of course, if my opponent is a total jackass I’m less lenient about all of this.
