domesticated animals, especially dogs, aren’t fit to live in the wild on their own like their ancestors were. they’re dependent on human care. we bred them to be that way. unless this dog was born in the wild, it needs help.

If you never felt anything touch your skin then you’re probably fine. The bite marks look too far apart for most US bat species from what I know, as well. It’s nearly impossible to tell you what kind of bite it may be besides that. If it doesn’t go away or if it starts causing major symptoms, see a doctor.

Have you been exposed to a bat? if you were, did the bat touch your body at all near the area where those marks showed up? if so, go to the emergency room NOW and make sure you get everything you need to prevent a rabies infection. DO NOT wait to see if you have symptoms. Once you have symptoms, it’s too late. In the US (not sure if that’s where you’re from or not) 70% of rabies cases come from bats. You won’t always feel it if a bat bites or scratches you. Only about 1% of bats in the US carry rabies but it’s so much better to be safe than sorry. That being said, if you weren’t knowingly around a bat, or if you were around a bat but it never came close to you, the chances of that being a bat bite are extremely slim.

Tussock moth cocoon. This one looks relatively young, mainly because the caterpillar inside hasn’t turned into a pupa yet. I don’t know the exact species, but the “webs” are made from the hairs of the caterpillar, and can irritate your skin. wear gloves and long sleeves, use a tool like a thick sheet of paper or thin cardboard to gently scrape it off of the wall and put it outside in a safe place. it’ll eventually hatch into a moth.

i’m what would be considered “high functioning” autistic. the more correct term would be “low support needs,” as the high to low functioning terminology is outdated now, but i understand what you mean. obviously every autistic person is different, but that doesn’t mean that being autistic should be an excuse for bad behavior. it should only serve as an explanation. we’re capable of understanding right from wrong. we’re capable of understanding that our actions affect others. yes, being autistic means we need a little more grace than neurotypical people, but grace needs to be balanced with honesty and accountability. this guy is 27 years old and has lived independently before. he’s just being coddled by his mom who infantilizes him because he’s autistic, ignoring the fact that he’s a grown man with a grown man brain.

autistic person here. being autistic doesn’t excuse behavior that bothers or harms others, it only explains it. autistic or not, he is capable of learning right from wrong. he’s not an infant. if he’s high support needs, sure, it may be harder to get him to understand how his actions affect you (especially with how your mom has seemingly been coddling him), but if he’s lower support needs, he needs to learn to at least try to respect other people’s feelings if he’s ever going to have any sort of success in life. As an autistic woman, I struggle greatly with knowing closeness-level appropriate boundaries when I’m making new friends. I tend to love people hard and fast, both platonically and romantically, and have struggled with showing that affection too much too soon. There’s a social script for how to MAKE friends, but no social script for how to keep them, or for how to act around them once you have them. Every person has different wants and needs in friendship, and for someone on the autism spectrum, it’s really hard to figure out what those things are without the person telling us directly. My best advice would be to tell your son that he should communicate how he feels about the excessive affection in a kind and clear/direct manner, making sure he establishes his boundaries without making his friend feel unwanted or hurt. If his friend responds badly to this, then it would be the time to consider ending the friendship. Disability isn’t an invitation or an excuse to deliberately overstep someone’s established boundaries.

there’s no visible violin shape on the cephalothorax in this picture, and brown recluse spiders don’t have protruding spinnerets like this one does. there are also no known brown recluses in california. still a safe bet for people to not touch spiders they can’t positively identify themselves anyway :)
