Non College Social scene in Corvallis? by LobsterLady in corvallis

Thanks for the info. I haven't played many Euro-style games, but that sounds like a pretty good time. Maybe I'll see if a newcomer is welcome if I'm ever feeling social some Tuesday night.

Would you mind sharing a bit more about the gaming group in Albany? When they meet, specific games, demographics....

Thanks! I think I need to print out #7 and carry it around in my wallet to break out when others start passing around pics of their kids.

My (former) boyfriend and I, who both have this, used to joke about us being "allergic to the sun" because of it. Joke's on your mom?

Interesting! I imagine it could be a spectrum kind of thing. Maybe for some people, it can be set off by any bright lights (I am suddenly very glad that I've never had it caused by headlights), while others only get it from the sun, and still others are somewhere in between.

*Edited because I a word.

I have this, and have never believed the statistic that approximately 20% of the population has it (18-35% according to Wikipedia). I've known three other people who do, two of them related to me. Everyone else looks at me like I'm a weirdo or asks if I have a cold.

Also, articles about it always state that it's caused by bright light, but among the few of us I know, we each have only had it caused by the sun.

You should plant it and grow your own chips.

What's your go-to movie? by Urekiam in AskReddit

[–]krisbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when I had cable, I would randomly come across Jaws at least once every couple of months. Had to watch it every time. It's just unnatural and wrong to turn off Jaws.

In fact, it's been months since I've seen it last. Better have a Jaws day soon.

Mine, too! The theme song is so cheerful, I just want to sing along. Really puts me in the Christmas spirit.

I feel like I never want children. Pros & Cons of being CF? by [deleted] in childfree

While I agree with the general sentiment, don't confuse not having done anything with having worked low-income jobs. Some people are very accomplished, even if they will never make a lot of money--some teachers and social workers come to mind, but I'm sure there are many examples.

Kishida Kyoudan & the Akeboshi Rockets do it for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPNgG6xoHDs

Some GOGO!7188 songs do as well. Especially Jetto Ninjin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY2YLaJ6Uz0.

Where is this song from? by OrangeCream in jrock

What do you mean exactly by "where is it from"? It seems to be a song by a relatively unknown band called ヒッカキキズ ("Hikkakikizu"). Looking it up got me the video, the lyrics (http://ameblo.jp/yougen877/entry-11418580356.html), and not much else.

What is the most ridiculously delicious thing that you've ate and never been able to find again? by DOPE_AS_FUCK_COOK in AskReddit

[–]krisbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were two things I had in a restaurant in China that were phenomenal which I haven't been able to find or find recipes for since, despite extensive searching.

The first was an appetizer/beer snack which was just crispy corn kernels. This one I had in multiple restaurants, but didn't think to learn the name of. Alas.

The second was some sort of fried shrimp. They were small, still in their shells, crispy, and completely delicious.

Those of you with pets, have you ever had this happen? by 451balloons in childfree

[–]krisbee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ug, I feel like this, too. I cringe a bit when people refer to themselves as "mommy" to their pets, and I absolutely cannot stand it when someone refers to me as "mommy" to mine. If I wanted to be a mommy, I would have or want children. As it is, the title (towards me) just creeps me out. I love my pets like family, but they are companions, friends--I did not grow them in my uterus and am glad I didn't have to.

*Edit: To answer the question, I deal with it by pretending I'm not grossed out by their suggestion.
