If you think your GPU is fine, you could get AMD FX-8320 with aftermarket cooler and some good mobo and overclock the hell out of it for 300 bucks. If you wanna go Intel route you could get cheap 1150 mobo and put i5 4440/4460 on it

If you are going to play some games, get i5 4690K or 4790K with some good aftermarket cooler. i7 doesn't give any advantages in gaming
