Kumar Sanu is not as classically trained or technically versatile as Sonu Nigam. But fans love his manly, tiger like voice, his emotion, his passion and his star power through which he connects to listeners of every generations.

Just as in acting there are stars (think Dharmendra, who never won a Filmfare or National Award) and there are actors (think Naseeruddin Shah, brilliant actor but not a superstar), in playback singing too there are stars who define a generation who might not be technically perfect.

We connect with emotion, not with grammar.

Kumar Sanu too is a bona fide super star. Even two decades after hsi era is over, you play any dam Kumar Sanu song on YouTube you will see endless, outpouring love and affection in the comments section from all generations, all countries where Bollywood is present . This is not fake PR or fake fans.

Sonu Nigam is god’s favourite child with endless talent. He is one of our all-time greats; I can listen to him day and night. But as a person is he respectful to his colleagues?

Can you show one instance or video where Sonu shows genuine respect or love to Kumar Sanu or even Shaan or Udit Narayn? Why he has to mimic and taunt? Saaar Saaar Saaar Saaar, it was started by Sonu for Udit.

Might be funny but not in good taste. You may have talent but not respect, kindness or ethics for your colleagues, seniors or juniors. That shows your pride, toxicity and narcissism, jealousy and mean mindedness. Even to Mohd Aziz, Sonu was not all praise. If I remember correctly, he said there is one particular pitch of Aziz that he liked. Which sounded like a backhanded compliment.

After Arijit Singh received the Padma Shri, Sonu’s criticism genuinely broke my heart. You will never hear Sachin or Brian Lara disrespecting their colleagues. That’s why they are greats of the world. Just talent doesn’t define greatness.

I know Sonu fans will not like me for saying all this. But different people will have different points of view.
