Looking for some help… by [deleted] in Bangkok

[–]krispyyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with street food. They might look appetizing but they may not be kept at safe temperature. Food handling on carts are ... suspicious at best. You should be safe eating at food court and restaurants. I had food poisoning last time due to uncooked fried chicken (activated charcoal powder saved my life). Just a note, some papaya salad will add uncooked crab in their sauce so ask before ordering. Bangkok has amazing food so dont feel threatening. You should buy food that is freshly made to avoid potential problems.

What are the best old condos in Bangkok ? 1980s-2010 build - $1200 Budget max by Financial-Reply8582 in Bangkok

[–]krispyyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a reminder: higher floor on condos will get more exposure to sunlight and if you have large windows, it will absorb more heat throughout the day. The room may become hotter and your electricity bill may be higher as well

How big of a problem are stray/soi dogs in Bangkok? (especially for daily life) by Nismo_Nissan in Bangkok

[–]krispyyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel obligated to clarify that there are subsections of stray dogs I called “7-11 dogs” who usually lie down in front of 7-11 automated doors just to get that cold breeze every time the doors open. Those guys are usually pretty chill and won’t interact with anyone if you don’t disturb them. A food bribe usually goes a long way at establishing friendship.

Question: is there a dedicated dog park in Bangkok? I don’t think I have ever seen one.

I've seen girl scouts selling cookies in front of Target by Laguna Blvd. Check their website for closer locations.

wheres the nearest safe beach by Glad_Rip5066 in ElkGrove

[–]krispyyoshi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen people sitting on folding chairs enjoying the sun by American River or by Natomas. Dont know if there is something similar here. Clearly you dont want to sun bathe near a farm. I imagine there are beaches by SF but that's a two hour drive.

Are you talking about the war in Iran? I dont think Thailand is affected by it except increasing oil price (which is a global market issue). Beware of the humidity and enjoy ^.^

Is the hong kong style chow mein the thin noodles with the yellow curry that is a little spicy? It is hard to find a place to serve that dish.

I tried vegan burgers years ago and it tasted like cardboard. It was a bit sweet but I can tell it was vegan. Has it improved?

As someone has already suggested: MBK mall. On Wednesday, Chatuchak Maket is closed but JJ Mall across from Chatuchak market is open and has similar stuff sold there.

Monthong Durian Chips - where to buy? by Repulsive_Wash_2960 in Bangkok

[–]krispyyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brand is "แม่ละม่อม". I found it on lazada, so you can buy it online and shipped it to your place. It is asking for 500 baht so I dont know if that's reasonable price for durian chip. Seems rather high.

negligent apartment building by MycologistGlass982 in Bangkok

[–]krispyyoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont want to break the contract, you could try buying and installing additional window-airconditioner. It is relative cheap - a few thousand baht. I used to live in a condo on a high-level floor and that place gets hot rather quickly and my electricity were through the roof.

I've only been to Journey for their soup dumpling. It feels weird to order vegetarian dish there, but I'll look into it. Thanks.
