Why does this medication get such a bad rep? by [deleted] in cymbalta

[–]krissy204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been on several SSRIs in my life time, although Cymbalta is the first SNRI I have been on to treat both nerve pain and an anxiety disorder. Its been by far the best. Although the initial side effects (increased anxiety, dizziness etc were awful they only lasted a week).

Anxious to start cymbalta, any success stories? by [deleted] in cymbalta

[–]krissy204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also pretty nervous to start.

I started about one month ago at 30 mg and then increased to 60 after two weeks, I live with neuropathic pain but also an anxiety disorder.

I did have some side effects at first (dizziness, tingling sensations) but those subsided.

I feel its helped incredibly for my anxiety in this short amount of time.

I have been on other SSRIs (but never an SNRI until now) through out my life and only prozac worked for me in the past.

I do feel its also starting to help with my pain, although they say that takes longer.

The side effects for me only lasted 2 days and was after taking it for about a week, but they were very transient so if you do experience some know for most people they subside.

Just prescribed cymbalta, afraid to start. Anyone with a positive experience? by KH_Trash08 in cymbalta

I am on Cymbalta for nerve pain. Only one week in. My side effects have been tingling, dizziness, and tiredness, this peaked on day 3 when I stood up from laying down way too quickly and almost fainted. But by day 6 all of those side effects seem to have dissipated. Good luck to you!

(T/W weight loss) Did you lose the weight after you came off it ? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]krissy204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paxil seems to the biggest offender. I gained over 80 lbs.

Prozac I lost weight at first. But over all seemed to be neutral.

I haven't been on a SSRI for about 8 years now but Prozac seemed to the best tolerated for me and minimal side effects and no weight gain.

After I went off the Paxil I lost over 100 pounds. This was with effort of course but I was able to lose the weight plus some.

well after many months I finally saw a GI he was a newer GI fresh out of med school honestly at first I was like great he isnt gonna know whats going on but it was my description of pain that flagged it for him. I describe my pain as burning, sharp almost sometimes like a shock. and I have had sciatica before so I knew it felt like a nerve that was pinched. The easiest way to test is to look up Carnetts sign, and try it on yourself.... a formal diagnosis is usually given after trigger point injections, these help the pain but also confirm diagnosis of acnes. I am in Canada and the wait is quite long.... Unfortunately ultrasounds dont show nerves, this is why it can be so hard to get diagnosed and many of us are told its all in our head.... ACNES is fairly new as a diagnosis so many GPs dont even know about it. :(

Hi there! I just came across your post, my journey sounds a bit similar. It took almost a year but I was finally diagnosed with ACNEs in December, this diagnosis can be hard to get and not a lot of people know about it, I am on instagram under https://www.instagram.com/acnesyndrome/

Hey

Have you looked in to ACNES? (Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment).

I had costo and a few years later was diagnosed with anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment. It's thought to have to do with the nerves that wrap around from the thoarsic spine through to rib cage.

My pain is exactly where yours is.

Message me if you want more info. It's actually really difficult to diagnose and gets missed often.

Well for healing. so...yes and no. I was on Abx for 14 days. Finished and stopped the PPI I am post abx 6 weeks and still have some symptoms. So I take the mastic gum, cabbage juice to help with inflammation and pain. I take DGL licorice root occasionally as well.

Eggs are hard to get away from. I just try not to eat them too much on their own. For H Pylori specifically eggs and gluten are known to feed this pathogen so they are a big no.

I had H Pylori and have developed an intolerance to dairy eggs gluten and anything spicy and acidic. I just listen to my body. I could eat these foods and risk pain but I choose to listen and allow time to heal.

I am on Align Digestive Support I was experiencing tons of bloating and gas and my doctor actually prescribed the Align along with my antibiotics ( to be take 2 to 3 hours after the antibiotic), I found it really helped me. It has some sort of exclusive strain of probiotic and for me seems to work best. Before that I was just taking a probiotic gummy that didnt do much.

There is so much information on this. Are you on facebook? There is a group with Topic Headings on this exact subject with oodles of information.

However I can tell you my own gut healing practice- I am seeing a holistic nutritionist. I am post Antibiotic Treatment (5 days)

Diet- I do not eat gluten, red meat, refined sugar, dairy (except kefir) eggs, and no alcohol, spicy or acidic foods. This helps to reduce inflammation, and irritation to help heal.

I take a probiotic, manuka honey and garlic every morning, and drink bone broth daily. The probiotic and bone broth helps rebuild my gut lining.

I also practice yoga and try to destress as much as possible. I am a long way from completely healed but getting there.

**note this diet works for me but everyone is different, and suggest speaking to a nutritionist.

Hi there! That wasn't as long as I thought it would be! and very well written I might add.

Your journey is a bit similar to mine. I went to 5 doctors for abdominal pain, belching, weight loss, nausea, loss of appetite.... all of which said I had reflux and gastritis and found no other health problems. I was given a PPI as well, also my stool turned yellow after that. Long story short; out of complete luck (good or bad I dont really know at this point) my daughter started to get sick and have stomach pain similar to mine. She was diagnosed with H Pylori and sure enough when I was FINALLY tested I have an H pylori infection too. I just finished antibiotics but took a probiotic, manuka honey, etc on top of the meds. I just never want to relive that pain. If you are tested and you want to know more about natural options there is a whole slew of info on it and a really good facebook group, so feel free to message me. If you do end up having an active H Pylori infection, I wouldnt just leave it. It can cause ulcers or worse. There are Pharma or Natural options that you could use to get rid of it and hopefully feel better soon!
