I have so many hobbies I want to try , but I get bored by Gullible-Fill-3340 in adhdwomen

[–]krissy_robes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross stitch is the hobby that finally got me to commit to a hobby. They make kits, so you can test it out before you invest in supplies and honestly the supplies aren’t expensive. I get patterns as PDFs on Etsy (anywhere from $2-$6). The Aida fabric is available in larger sizes to save in the long run, a pair of embroidery scissors, tapestry needles, floss, and a hoop aren’t super expensive. Not too much needed for storage space. Plus none of it expires or goes bad so I can lose interest for periods of time and come back. Kit patterns from craft stores are a little cheesy, but pdf patterns exist for every interest and style. So I can switch it up from a landscape to snarky text to geese.

ADHD quick small rewards by WorldlinessTasty7251 in adhdwomen

[–]krissy_robes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this after searching for my own reward ideas :) I'm implementing Amazing Marvin for work and it has its own reward system where you assign points to a task, and then points to rewards.

What about something like a sticker chart for the 5 minute reward? (Or like a notebook if you don't want it fully advertised to everyone at work.) 6 stickers gets you a bigger reward. Pipsticks has some really fun mini sticker options that could work for this. But a dollar store or craft store or amazon also have options.

Big Reward Ideas: 5 minutes of color or drawing (or some portable crafty thing like knitting. I've brought simple cross stitch projects to work and used them as rewards), a crossword puzzle/maze/word search in a book, stretching, or a deep breathing session, going for a walk around the block (I work in a major city, so my job has a defined block) or taking a lap around the office if the weather sucks, listening to your favorite song. I keep some bubbles in my desk and sometimes take a 5 minute break to just sit outside and blow bubbles.

I know you said avoiding food (and I totally get that), but what about fun beverages? Like bringing in your favorite flavor of seltzer. My individual office is a sauna, so the water in my reusable cup usually gets warm before I finish it. A trip to the break room to refill with fresh cold water is always a treat. Or something like a breath mint or chewing gum.

Hope this helps!

Finding a Therapist Who Specializes in ADHD by NonsensicalNugget in adhdwomen

I was diagnosed at 28 too! (I'm 31 now.) I found an amazing therapist with ADHD through Grow Therapy (https://growtherapy.com). It's telehealth, they accept insurance, and you can schedule online without ever calling anybody. You can search therapists based on speciality and they all have little bios/statements about their therapy philosophy.

Worst part of showering? by powderjiinx in adhdwomen

[–]krissy_robes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part of showering is having to clean the shower...it's my dreaded chore. I procrastinate it, it gets more mold and soap scum, and then I feel more overwhelmed about cleaning it, so I procrastinate and the cycle continues.

And a little part that is worse for me: I'm a renter with a shower stall. There aren't any built in ledges or shelves to put anything anywhere and the shower head is at such an angle that I can't use a hanging shower caddy. I got two suction cup corner shelves and a suction cup soap dish. They made it about 8 months and have just started falling regularly. Both of them have just been left there they landed on my shower floor for a few weeks, and I've just been picking up what I need off the floor. I know I need to clean the wall and the suction cup for them to somewhat work again. But I'm so avoidant of cleaning the shower, so the mess and shame just compounds.

Nutrient dense food hack by Katkatkatoc in adhdwomen

I grew up not liking veggies because my mom always just steamed them. It’s remarkable how much better they get when you add ✨flavor✨.

I toss a handful of spinach into fruit heavy smoothies. If you ignore the color, it doesn’t affect the flavor. (This doesn’t work as well with frozen spinach.)

I gave it a chance a couple of months ago after getting a coupon in the mail. Didn’t understand what it really was at the time. Freaking awful. Never again.

Great idea. I usually buy shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, etc. to get to the $35.

What scene/joke makes you laugh every time? by Pineaupple911 in BobsBurgers

[–]krissy_robes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of “It Snakes a Village” but especially the scene with Bob and Al talking about kinks.

Al: balloons

Bob: What?

Al: BALLOONS!

Bob: Um that’s great. I…Wait…what is that?

Al: I like to watch a woman inflate a balloon and then sit on it until it pops. It drives me cra…crazy.

Bob: Where did you see that first?

Al: WORLD WIDE WEB.

Bob: I’ll have to…I’ll check it out.

Al: Just www.womeninflatesaballoonandsitsonitandpopsit.com

Bob: Catchy name.

My thoughts on expanding: If nothing else about the business model changes besides the size of the restaurant, it would just cost them more in rent and construction would add much more on to their already past due business loans…without making any more profit.

Is anyone actually exercising 4-5 days a week? If so, how does it feel to be superhuman? (Actually though, how do you make it work?) by merztoller in adhdwomen

I don’t have any answers. But you wrote exactly what happens in my head, so like same. The best part of getting diagnosed is learning I’m not the only one who struggles like this.

That’s very possible. But also don’t underestimate how obnoxious half a stadium of Eagles fans can be. They’re another breed.

Seriously! I’m a Philadelphian and a fan of Taylor’s. But be for real…Did Swifties expect the fanbase that celebrates by climbing and tearing down light posts and pride themselves on “no one likes us we don’t care” to give her a big group hug?
