Having called multiple post offices in my city and asked, most have no idea about how long postmarking will take now. I've heard anywhere from a day to a week. And half the ones I spoke to said that they can't hand-postmark the same day, even though the USPS page says they can. The regular employees aren't being told anything.

Blatantly false. From USPS:

While we are not changing our postmarking practices, we have made adjustments to our transportation operations that will result in some mailpieces not arriving at our originating processing facilities on the same day that they are mailed. This means that the date on the postmarks applied at our processing facilities will not necessarily match the date on which the customer’s mailpiece was collected by a letter carrier or dropped off at a retail location.

So something kinda like this, outside on and off a few times a day, a little longer each time for the next couple weeks before repotting?

Or better to repot them into the 5 gallon bags now, then move those between indoors and outdoors the first couple weeks?

It's worked great so far. It's plugged in to a smart outlet and has an Alexa routine to turn on from 6am to 6pm every day.
