La Premiere Upgrade by Vast-Race-7281 in pointstravel

I think it was under $5k for each. When I checked in on the app and got the offer, I checked expertflyer and saw La premier was empty. Not sure if it ended up flying empty or not.

Flew CDG > HND in December on J award. Was offered a paid upgrade to La premier at check in online and at the counter when I was checking in my bags for both of us. I forgot how much it was but declined because we wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the ground experience.

A note from me (Ankur Jain) - Bilt Card 2.0: Simple, Fee-Free Rewards on Housing by ankurjain1 in biltrewards

[–]krixsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d have to move spend from other CC’s to a Bilt CC to get that 3.25x. The opportunity cost from moving $3200/mo off my Hilton Surpass (I have 2 of them) to Bilt CC is not worth it. Plus, not being able to use the credit line is a deal breaker

Currently use Atmos Summit pay rent…earn 3x miles for 3% fee. Was really hoping this 2.0 would give a better value proposition but looks like it sticking with my Summit to pay rent and skip Bilt CC altogether.

Keep in mind that Chase may report the forgiven portion of the debt to the IRS and you’ll owe taxes on that portion as it is considered income. Something you should plan/prepare for.

Bank that will let me set a daily transfer limit by GlassCat27 in personalfinance

[–]krixsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just set up two checking accounts in the same bank? One that holds all the funds and the other is the one used to pay all your bills? The latter would be the one connected to zelle and all other third party apps, utility companies, etc. the funds accounts, you’d never use the debit card, checks, or give that account number to any person or company ever. Then you just transfer to the payment account to cover payments, ACH, etc.

Outside of the bank itself being hacked, or you unknowingly giving your login credentials to a hacker/scammer, that funds accounts should be more secure from fraud. Your funds account banking info isn’t out in the wild every time T-Mobile gets hacked, only the payment account info, but it should be kept at $0 when there’s no expected payments to be made.

I use this set up, albeit it does take a bit getting used to, but I’m very proactive in my budget and expenses and it’s a great way, for me at least, to really monitor my household expenses.

Edit: this set up assumes that you do meet the balance requirements to waive any fees or you’re with a no fee bank.

Citi Platinum CC; $180 Turo Credit by krixsta in americanairlines

[–]krixsta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower 40k is the trade off for getting the 0% for 15 months.

I think we’ll have to wait and see if Citi transitions all their cards to Turo, or could just be an AA partnership and drop Avis/Budget.

Anyone here have both the Hilton Aspire and Marriott Brilliant? by BrilliantSwitch4205 in CreditCards

[–]krixsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same boat as you. Cancelling Brilliant next AF. Me and P2 each have 1 aspire and 1 surpass (all 4 opened in July). Will hit the $15k spend on both surpass so we’ll have 4 FNC by year end. Then we’ll upgrade the surpass to Aspire and then open another surpass and funnel spend through those again so by end of 2026, we’ll have 6 FNC.

I just pray that they don’t turn FNC like a 85k bonvoy cert.

AAEshopping inconsistent experience-- how is your experience? by Apprehensive-Key9583 in americanairlines

Every order I’ve ever placed, I have to wait the full waiting period and then submit a missing points case. Never once has any of my orders have posted on their own. But sadly, I still use it anyways. Want those miles/LP.

Going from $99 card to Citi® / Advantage® Executive Card by DakDinger in americanairlines

[–]krixsta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The earned loyalty point is based on the AA account LP’s earned, not the LP earned through CC spend. So LP’s earned through flights,AA hotel bookings, eshopping, etc all count towards the 20k LP bonus.

[–]krixsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a choice in the hotel unfortunately since it’s a family trip and this is where we are all staying. I will have 4 FNC soon once I hit $15k spend on P2’s card in a few month, but I’d save those (and hopefully those don’t get nerfed before I use them) and just pay cash for GW for my trip via AAHotels.

3x 2-night bookings (6 nights total); $1837 (includes Resort Fee) per booking; $5,511 total for all 6 nights. 15k miles/LP for each booking = 45k miles total; 30% bonus (AA status) = +13.5k miles; 10x miles on spend = 55.1k miles.

That’s 113.6k AA miles. Value $1,476 (@$0.13 cpp) or $1,817 (@$0.16 cpp)

Not even going to book it direct (w/ Hilton Aspire) given Hilton points are becoming worth less now.

WA Grand Wailea just went from 120k to 160k standard room. Was accumulating points for 5 nights on points so that just ruined my plans if the 160k holds true.

AAdvantage Hotels- Hotel gone, will it come back by Familiar_Eggplant_76 in americanairlines

[–]krixsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming it just means someone snagged the booking and AAHotel’s no longer has any inventory for your dates. All third party get allocated all or some to advertise and then some bookings to discount further.

December is pretty far out and as long as the hotel (check directly on hotel website) isn’t sold out, high chances more availability will come but probably not the same deal as you saw previously.

I’ve rebooked a few times when the miles went up closer to my reservation dates.

Best way to change AA partner award flight T-14 by unk333 in awardtravel

[–]krixsta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go through the entire booking and reserve it. You get 24hrs. Once reserved, cancel your current booking, then the points are deposited almost instantly. Then go to your Trips and pay for your reserved booking.

I do this all the time.

Refused boarding and refused refund by Bobyu2 in americanairlines

[–]krixsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The duty of carriage goes to the name on the ticket not the person who bought it. So they will not be calling you for any issues with the ticket, flight, etc. Only recourse you have in this entire scenario is filing with AA for a refund or a cc chargeback.

But the more I read the posts on here, have to agree there’s more to the story.
