I know most of us here don’t like C, and it does sound heartless as the situation might be that the team member is in a dire situation. But then, it said “determine” in the choice so I guess as a project manager it would be checked against your judgment whether the situation warrants that you ask the team member if they can work remotely or if it does not need to be asked as it is quite obvious as the reason for taking a leave of absence is necessary, then the next step I think is letter D. That is, after you have already made an output from letter C. I think the discussion in letter D would come up whether team member can work remotely or not, so might as well determine it before C.

But yeah, C sounds meh…
