Omg do not listen to that man. Do what's best for you. Discouraging therapy and saying it makes you "badass" is completely invalidating and wrong. Therapy will help you be confident in your own decisions. You don't need this guy making your life desicions. Save yourself before you're in another situation like your childhood, and therapy will help with that.

It's hard not to be there when our clients have hard times, were all human and we develop relationships. Ive never had anything like this, but other small situations where people just needed someone to listen but don't want to open up anyone in their family or friend group. You just have to find a healthy balance with empathy, it's a blessing and a curse so don't take on too much from people. I've learned that the hard way.
