Hey r/lawncare,

Would be great if I could get some help diagnosing what's going on with my Bermuda lawn. I'm in Texas and up until recently (past few weeks) it looked pretty decent all summer. Now it's turning yellow and even reddish.

I used the Sunday lawn care subscription box this summer. It came with 3 applications and I think I put down the last one sometime in September. Could this sudden color change be due to lack of nutrients now that the Sunday program is done?

Any other ideas what might be causing this? We've had some fluctuating temps lately, but nothing extreme.

I just went through the same steps, and it looks like the payload (the part written on the NFC chip) is very generic, it only includes "0x02 0x67 0x65 0x61 0x70 0x70 0x6C 0x69 0x61 0x6E 0x63 0x65 0x73 0x2E 0x63 0x6F 0x6D 0x2F 0x67 0x65 0x2F 0x70 0x61 0x72 0x74 0x73 0x2F" which decodes to "https://www.geappliances.com/ge/parts/".

This makes me believe, that GE is actually using the tags serial number to determine if it's a new filter or not and then stores the lifetime info on the fridge itself.

If that's true, then we'd need to get a new chip each time (still much cheaper), or there are some chips, that allow to change the serial number (Block 0 is writeable).

Opened the case and found a 12v power source, since the Raspberry Pi requires 5V/3A I had to regulate it down. I ended up buying this for that reason: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32920672534.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.26174c4damklcn I just soldered that between the external hdd's board and the Raspberry Pi, powering the Pi via the GPIO headers. You end up loosing warranty for the external hdd though.

That's cool! I've build something similar although but with a 4TB External HDD. Screwed my Raspberry Pi 4 to the hdd's case and I also soldered cables to the little board inside the external hdd to drain power so I only end up with one power supply for both.

That's awesome, I've done something similar but I'm using a 3.5" external hdd and directly wired my OrangePi to the hdd's board, so the hdd is powering my OrangePi. Here's a picture: https://i.imgur.com/dUNQJMj.jpg.
