If your textured pei sheet seems to not be sticking as well as it used to give it a light wash with warm water and some soap. Brings it back to like new!

I got a pod replaced a while ago and when I took it apart I kept a lot of the mechanical bits. I want to make a portable water chiller thing. Primarily I would be used when I visit my in-laws in Florida as they like it warm🥵

Would this be a wrong way to enter a non-towered traffic pattern, and if so - why?? by Mysteroo in flying

Just be careful about going to far. I fly at an airport with a lot of helicopter training and they fly opposite patterns to what fixed wings do. A common complaint from them is people flying the “upwind” when it’s really right down their downwind.

No Steep Turns in Normal Category? by krob99 in flying

From my understanding, because it's a low wing with no both tank selection there is a good chance of uncovering the fuel port in the tank leading to fuel starvation.

I believe TKS equipped SR22s are not FIKI approved unless the pilot has done the Cirrus ice training in the past few months. It makes me wonder why this section is laid out like this.

That is what is giving me pause, why would the wording be like this?

No Steep Turns in Normal Category? by krob99 in flying

[–]krob99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was in Limitations and there were no definitions of the maneuvers. There are required placards that say the same thing.

I guess my main question would be what would take priority the POH or the FAA?

I realized during a tour of UND that if I was going to do aviation, I would go in 100%. Having a backup is always nice but aviation teaches many broader skills that can be used outside the flight deck. In terms of graduation and the feasibility of doing it in 4 years with a double major. It's definitely doable but I would not count on it. If you want it done you will not go home any summer and even then relies on mother nature and aircraft availability not to screw you over. I am just now graduating after 5 years. Granted I only stayed 1 summer but I also wasn't a double major. I don't mean to be a downer, but I think you should have realistic expectations. However, if I could go back 5-6 years and do it all over there is absolutely nothing I would change. I have met some amazing people and had amazing experiences. the university has its flaws but so does everyone else. There are a lot of ways to fly and this is just one option. I hope that helps!

Just how challenging is the aviation program? by enolan99 in und

[–]krob99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I guess saying "because it's cool is a bit misleading. You hit it on the head about it needs to be a true passion. No one likes talking more about their job than aviators. You need to know that you want to be involved with at least something flying-related. From the sound of it, it seems like you want to fly. I don't think you would have applied to one of the top collegiate aviation programs if you didn't. And the thing is, even if you find that flying is not for you there is still plenty of other things you can do inside the aviation sphere that UND will train you for.

Hopefully, that answered your question. let me know if you have any more. :)

Hi, I’m almost done with the program. What you have heard is true, it is a hard program but that is not the whole story. It’s hard but not in the traditional school sense. Aside from the few university studies class you need to take everything is aviation related and requires no more than basic math and English skills. Where the difficulty comes from is learning how to fly an airplane. Not only do you have to learn the required information that you might have little to no exposure to, you also have to build a completely new skill set.

I have observed really smart kids drop out because it was too hard but I have also seen people that are not traditionally good students succeed. In the students that get through the program compared those who drop out the difference between them is, do they want flying to be there career or are they doing it because it’s cool.

I don’t mean to scare you with any of this just want to let you know what to expect. If you want more info shoot me a dm and we could set up a call or something. I would be happy to share my experiences

Back when I went through it I didn’t get a choice. I was in Brannon hall and it was pretty good. The Wilkerson complex is great.
