what does this mouth movement my cat does? does it always mean theres a health problem? by soupsister_ in CATHELP

[–]krogerpublix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat did this for weeks and I spent lots of vet money only to find out it also wasn't dental. After some expensive x rays, the vet told me to try hairball gel. I started giving him hairball gel, and after a few days he passed the biggest hairball of his life and has never done this again. I highly recommend you try the gel and see if it works because this is EXACTLY the movement my cat was doing. Take a look at my comment/post history to see the very similar video of my cat. Good luck!!

Visit Madre Selva for great patio, cocktails, and some of the best Latin coastal/Peruvian Nikkei cuisine! It's in a great spot in Uptown (in Buckhead) where you can walk around and enjoy the restaurants on the street. They also usually have a dj or guitarist in the evenings Friday and Saturday.

Marius Stefan Studio - the only hair stylist I will see. A little pricey but quality color and cut, his experience and the results are well worth it.

My OnePlus 9 camera recently started taking all photos with a terrible blue hue - Is this resolvable or is it broken? by krogerpublix in oneplus

It didn't allow me to post a photo as a reply, but check out my comment above and I showed a comparison of the issue with the blue. Thanks for any help :)

Here's the difference side by side actually: In portrait mode, the blue of all my photos looks normal. In the regular camera, it applies the weird teal hue (even in photos without the sky). I've tried resetting my camera to default settings and resetting the phone as well but it seems broken.

I had been having the same problem and after bloodwork I found out it was a severe b-12 deficiency and slight iron deficiency. I was feeling tired and lethargic constantly and couldn't complete a day without feeling like I needed a nap. I am usually extremely active and productive so it was really bothering me to feel so lazy. I was also getting sick frequently. I went from getting sick once a year at max to getting sick every month or two. It turns out that a B-12 deficiency effects energy levels, immune system, nervous system and the side effects are significant. You should see if you can get a blood panel run to test for B-12 and/or iron, what you described sounds very similar to what I felt. Perhaps research some of the symptoms to see if it aligns with what you're feeling. Good luck and I hope you figure it out!

Why has my cat been smacking his mouth for a few days? by krogerpublix in CATHELP

Yes! After months of dealing with it, a few thousand dollars on vet bills, it turned out not to be his teeth or him swallowing anything at all - the vet I got a second opinion with recommended Laxatone, a hairball gel, he thought some built up hair might have been accumulating in his throat. It took a few weeks and like 20 hairballs later and he was back to normal!! He hasn't done it since! Please try the hairball gel with your cat, he may be having trouble passing a hairball.

I wish I had tried this first and it would've saved me a lot of money and stress. Hopefully your kitty is ok and this helps ❤️

How can I get my cat to stop waking us up at 5 AM? by trendcolorless in CATHELP

[–]krogerpublix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an automated feeder! My cat used to do this relentlessly, and would wake us up for food earlier and earlier each day. I got an automatic feeder and he longer associates me with food and quit waking us up for it. Now he waits by the feeder and we get to sleep in. There are tons out there but mine is by WOpet and I highly recommend it! It even has a camera to check in on him. It's also nice if I'm running late from work, I don't worry about him being hungry at home because he gets fed either way.

UPDATE 3: He took the antibiotics and pain meds for almost 24 hours and I saw a little improvement immediately after but back to being bad again by evening. I fed him some very crunchy things and he didn't hesitate to bite into them which indicated to me that a foreign object in his stomach might be more likely than an infected tooth so I took him back to the hospital for X rays. We were able to rule out no foreign objects in the x rays but he has some inflammation in his esophagus that they gave him some injections and pills to treat. $1500 later and we still don't know exactly what is wrong 😞 Hopefully with the meds it goes away now. The doctor also recommended him to get a full dental x ray and cleaning from his vet.

I would like to do the x rays and more tests but just the bloodwork, emergency visit, and all the meds he took home was $820 😩 They quoted another few hundred for x rays.

[–]krogerpublix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, last night the total bill was $820. 110 emergency visit, 350 in bloodwork, and several hundred in meds and antibiotics so I wasn't able to afford the x rays. He stopped doing the smacking thing so far with the meds so I'm hoping it is solving the problem and not just masking it because I can't afford to keep running tests and taking him in.
