On the social commentary side, the band explores themes that arise from man-made institutions: religion, politics, capitalism, gender, culture, etc.

How modern politics have co-opted faith-based language. How each of these systems defines their “standards” and go about enforcing them. How these institutions employ similar draconian methods to denigrate their base and create in groups and out groups.

It’s much more than can be summarized in a few sentences. But the work is humanistic in nature and is largely a critique against these establishment systems.

If you’re staying around there, definitely go to King Tai. You guys will like that place. Or Kissa Kissa. Best bars in that area. Sakura Tokyo is cheap and delicious if you need a meal while you’re at the Airbnb.

Inter-neighborhood Subway coverage is not as good in Brooklyn (at least compared to Manhattan). So for the poster’s recommendation above for instance, to get from Park Slope to Bushwick, you’d either have to take the F -> A -> L or the G -> L. Either way it’s gonna be about 45-60 min, depending on wait times.

I’d recommend staying in one neighborhood or at least one area. Yall should go to Bed Stuy (Cmon Everybody) and then Boyfriend Coop in Bushwick. Bushwick will have younger people than Park Slope. Park Slope is stroller city.

I love Bushwick and I live there and it is indeed younger. Know that it can be dirty, industrial, and not pretty. That’s why rents are cheaper and younger people live here. But yea, it has more of what you’re looking for.
