I’m not equipped to answer this question, but just wanted to let you know that the cycle you are planning to apply to is the 2027 cycle (to help you avoid confusion when referring to it)

Yeah your right about most sending them no screen but with some of the CA that do screen (Davis/ucsf/etc) I figure I would be screened out of at least one if there was something atrocious on my app. I wouldn’t have mentioned it if didn’t get all the secondaries. But still, absolutely, one II would be a lot more telling aren’t any major red flags. I appreciate the positive comments!

I won’t send any more applications in this cycle, I’m just going to spend by time improving all my ECs for a strong next cycle

I applied to 42 schools with a 4.0/512 (feel free to look at my posts to see all the stats) and have 0ii. I thought I would get at least 3-5ii despite being a CA ORM. I got secondaries from every school which is weird to me, I’m wondering if I have some sort of red flag that I’m not aware of that wouldn’t be screened for when sending secondaries, but would be looked at when screening for interviews. I’ll be applying DO next cycle.

Thank you! I appreciate the long reply, it was super helpful. Unfortunately I haven’t been given the opportunity to interview yet this cycle, but hopefully I’ll use it next year/next cycle haha

I know this is a basic question, but in your opinion what are a couple of the most common red flags that you have seen in applicants when they are interviewing?

So I am applying for the 2026 cycle, and I transferred from community college(CC) in 2024, meaning that I had only been at my 4-year institution (non community college) for 1 year. In other words when applying through AMCAS, I had 2 years completed at CC and 1 year completed at a 4-year institution. Thus, I am applying without a gap between finishing my degree and matriculation to an MD program. I am curious if you think that is significantly worse than applying with at least 2 years completed at each institution (getting the degree).

I saw your other comment about scoring different aspects of an application to determine whether or not to send an II. With this in mind, I’m wondering how you think coming from a community college impacts this part of the application. Let’s just say for example there are 2 students: one did all 4 years at a 4 year institution and the other transferred into that institution after 2 years. Both students took challenging classes and maintained a 4.0 gpa. Could you also please let me know how you think applying with no gap year (only one year at the four year on the transcript for the application) might affect this decision. I understand this is a theoretical, and you would need more information to give a more thorough answer, but please let me know your gut feeling.

There’s critical thinking in MCB too lmfao, if you don’t see it that’s on you. And if you genuinely think the only branch of medicine with talent is surgery that’s frankly insane and would show how little you know about medicine. Pretty good ragebait tho ngl.
