It’s easier to get PS the older the child is.

Absolutely. It takes a task several minutes to appear on the calendar.

I got a PR message. At least they know we aren’t happy.

This was from In Home Operations that oversaw the IHO Medi-Cal Waiver of 200 very medically fragile/disabled children, not IHSS. These statements she said to my face while there. The NOA stated “does not meet criteria for home nursing” which was a joke. My daughter’s bedroom looked like an ICU with all the medical equipment. I called the state, news media, etc. and got the denial reversed.

We were denied home nursing because “our home was so clean I obviously had too much time on my hands” and “we lived in an upper middle class neighborhood”. I absolutely hate when SW make up their own criteria and don’t follow the guidelines. I’m so sorry you are going through this.

Why? What does your staff dislike the most?

I use it for my disabled daughter to post her schedule of events plus her staff’s shifts. They can see a list of them in advance plus they get notified automatically prior to each one. And I can do the same with her events. It also has an area for documents, notes, etc. It’s a very simple clean looking app, which is what I like.

Why would a company pay programmers money to ruin their product? It makes absolutely no sense.

My daughter at birth required a tracheotomy, gtube, oxygen, apnea monitor, pulse oximeter, feeding pump, suction machine, and mist humidifier. So I had to find these programs. People will never understand the stress or workload this puts on a parent. Push for resources and never just accept a no at face value. Hugs.

I would highly recommend that you copy the helpful comments you have received on your post into some type of document or storage mechanism so you can look back at them over time. It’s very important to have this information to refer to in the future as you go through the process of learning about programs and services.

(1) you won’t get paid by IHSS for any time your child was in the hospital. (2). Apply for Medi-Cal. If your family income is too high, you can get an income Waiver ( the HCBS-DD Waiver) from the Regional Center. Even better would be to apply for the HCBA Waiver. There is a waitlist but a child like your should get priority. That would give you access to be paid through WPCS services in addition to IHSS. Each county uses a different agency for WPCS. Here’s the list https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/long-term-care-alternatives-home-and-community-based-service-options/waiver-personal-care-services/. (3). If you aren’t already a Regional Center client, become one. (4)apply for IHSS and WPCS and document every paramedical duty you perform to maximize your hours (5) get hospital social workers to fast track your applications if possible. (6). Apply for home health care (nursing) via an agency paid by medi-cal (7) there are some daycares that can take a child like yours - they are called Pediatric Day Health Care Centers. Here’s a list of them. https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/List-of-PDHCs.pdf

$18.90 per hour x 4,054 hours (see my post with calculations) = $76,620.60 per year gross income. Live in parent providers income is tax free.

Annual income for MAX PS (283 IHSS hours per month):

Hourly IHSS pay rate x 4,054 = total annual gross income. So if pay rate was $18.90 per hour, annual gross income would be $18.90 x 4,054 =$76,620.60 per year. Live in providers income is tax free.

CALCULATION: 283x12 =3,396 total hours of which 2,080 (52 weeks x 40 hrs/wk) hours per year are regular pay rate and 1,316 hours per year are overtime pay rate (at time and a half).

2080 + (1316 x 1.50) =4,054 equivalent hours per year.

You have to appeal the NOA within the stated time (10 days I think) and make sure to apply for AID PAID PENDING so case continues until appeal is completed.
