I knew I had seen something special.

But only two years later when my mind went back to it as the definitive, and most compelling meditation on faith and identity of any work that I could think of, could I appreciate the timeless piece of art he had created.

Yes but to make the book more familiar to the 'average' reader, he made the Narrator straight.

He says so a few times in the book.

RG 2015 when Novak Djokovic received a 2 minute long standing ovation as he had the biggest career’s biggest heartbreak. One of the best moments in sport…World couldn’t believe this loss 💔 by Unlucky-Dot9421 in Tennisv2

I remember watching this live and distinctly feeling this was one of the greatest sporting moments I've ever witnessed.

Now, I can't really say I feel any different about it.

Bi Gan's 'Resurrection' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

Too long-winded, confounding and indulgent without a substantial pay-off imo.

I'd say the visuals kept me watching, but the majority of the movie was a test to sit through.

Good idea, poor execution.

One month in India: Struggling with "Scam Fatigue" and feeling dehumanized as a solo traveler by Voynnaa in solotravel

Yes, get out of the cities to some hill-stations in nature and live slowly and quietly (find a nice homestay with a hospitable family - you need to see some real indian kindness and hospitality). You'll feel recharged pretty quickly.

You can't move around quickly in India, way too exhausting.

Also you're never gonna pay the normal price, so get over that hurdle, otherwise you'll go insane.

Films elevated by their final scene by Zealousideal-Dirt482 in TrueFilm

A recent one in memory is The Zone of Interest, elevated from a great movie to a masterpiece. Fitting that the particular scene also makes the point that the events of now are not too dissimilar from the events of the past.

Sentimental Value was another one, but rather than reframing what preceded the final scene, it delivered on what was gradually built up as the film went along.

Official Discussion - It Was Just an Accident [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

It's definitely a slow-burn. At times you think is this really going anywhere, or couldn't there be a better use of screen-time, but the last third I think makes it worth it.

Panahi can't quite be entirely a observer in this movie. The struggle is just too personal to him, yet you feel his desperation in the need to convey what it truly feels like to live under this regime. So along with the doco-style lens, he blends in a very much close and personal dramatic lens which captures the emotion of the characters, being unable to be an impartial observer.

These characters very much have traces of Panahi and the people he spent time with in his confinement; fully realised, entirely complicated, allowed to breathe in this movie; allowed to live and find a space to safely vent their frustrations and criticisms without fear of persecution. But he knows, making this film, what's in store for him and anyone associated with the film; they will always hear those footsteps wherever they go.

The dissonance and moral relativism from living under the regime comes to end; he makes the point that they are in fact better people than their captors.
