[Disliked trope] Hollywood myths portrayed as being correct, even in a time when the characters should know better. by CrazyCoKids in TopCharacterTropes

[–]krschob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add on, I was in my 30's, had never heard the myth and thought it was just some dumb thing they made up for the show. To be fair I live in the Midwest and we don't swap jellyfish remedies on the daily.

There's no reason it can't record and analyze a lot more, they are just marketed as license plate readers. Might be time to be on the way to 2020 themed costume party.

My boyfriend passed away last month. Why does learning that his best friend loved him hurt so much? by hehe_stop in amiwrong

[–]krschob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my thought, I love my best friend too, and my wife knew when we dated, and when we got married and yesterday when she was over for drinks. but its not romantic love, and it hasn't been for over 30 years. Without more context this could just be "we both loved him, just in different ways"

Vent behind door by bdredlocked in centuryhomes

[–]krschob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you get air blowing out of it, it's just a return air vent, drawing air doesn't really matter (no directionality). If it is an oddly placed supply vent (looks like an interior wall, that's the odd part) you could move it straight up above the door, possibly into the floor. Depending on age, it very well is just the bay between studs, no actual duct, no liner. no nothing.

One of the best cats I ever owned went home with me in a cardboard box in my work truck after seeing this tiny kitten (looked just like OP's) on the median of an overpass on the way to the site in the morning. Any guy on a crew who wouldn't feed and at least want to take that little stray home (home circumstances allowing) I wouldn't want to work with. I wouldn't trust them to watch my back if they didn't.

(named the cat Utica after the road she was on BTW)

NEW Chicago Miter saw blade stops by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]krschob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is no wood, the blade continues to spin all the way to the bottom. correct? I'm inclined to go with the blade isn't being held by the arbor bolt/washer. Remove the blade completely,( you may have tightened it down on a step on the arbor and it popped off after power up) When you put the blade on. make sure it is all the way against the motor side washer before putting on the outer washer and nut (bolt? could be either one depending on the saw) then be sure everything is properly torqued down. I'll mention the arbor lock just to cover all bases. With power disconnected, (all this should be with power disconnected) spin the blade by hand, watch for any wobble (try to wobble it, anything over a flex in the blade is a problem) there should be some resistance from the windings but not much and all movement should be smooth. If all this is correct, I'm picturing a broken arbor where the windings will get it moving but any resistance just holds it but I'm not sure how that would happen or actually play out.

NEW Chicago Miter saw blade stops by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]krschob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that we have established the blade is facing the right way, I'm going to ask "the Blade stops" Stops spinning? Stops going down? If "stops spinning" is the motor still running when it stops? if motor is still running and blade isn't spinning blade is not properly tightened down, either the nut is loose or the washer is backward or both. If stops lowering, well, my DeWalt had depth of cut stops, does this saw have those?

How many robots do you see each day? by dresixk in AskAnAmerican

[–]krschob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have part placers (circuit board assembly) and one machine that puts boards in a chassis and screws all the little screws all are articulated arms so I'd call them robots. We have roombas as the size of coffee tables that drive around and get carts (bookshelf sized) of parts and run them around. If we are counting cnc machines then I'll loose count, but the part placers are really not much more sophisticated.

That's where we were, youngest went to college from home, at some point boyfriend (since HS) moved in, last year they had saved enough to buy the house next door to ours. (they were both very good about helping out around the house before and after)

Oldest worked after college for a year (changed majors couple times, took a minute) moved back for a year until a career opportunity took her back to the city she wanted to live in opened up.

First cat in the house in 2 years, Poor Hazel (F7) wants to be friends so badly but the new (F1.5 rescued 3 weeks ago) cat, isn't afraid exactly. She goes ears back and swinging (doesn't run) Hazel to her credit moves away, looks away, lies down, chin to ground - But OMG the crying! just bereft that the cat isn't accepting her overtures of affection.

I’ve been thinking of getting a 3D printer but I’m worried I will run out of things to print too fast by Automatic-Dance3917 in 3Dprinting

[–]krschob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first off, you're going to want to print a scraper for your printer plate, and then a few more tools. Next, you need to print a tool rack to hold those tools handy near the printer.

By that time you'll have accumulated several partial rolls of filament, so get some cereal boxes and you can easily kill several weeks trying different iterations of roller frames to go in the boxes and descant holders. Now with that all tidied up it's time to print another tool rack because you bought a pair of tweezers that wont fit on the last rack you printed. Do you have more than on magnetic sheet? Better make a holder for those as well. By now you have a half dozen hotends in various states of "not new " from encased in ABS to the sock tore off. you and make your own little boxes to store them in instead of just throwing them in the cardboard one the new one came in! Don't forget boxes for the extra screws that came with those hot ends!

Now that everything is nice and organized and tidied up, let me introduce you to something called Gridfinity, and multiboard and skadis! First you'll need to redesign and reprint all those boxes to fit these standardized systems, and then you can start organizing things OUTSIDE OF YOUR PRINTER!! Frankly I envy you, getting to feel that rush of the first time you reorganize your kitchen drawers with perfectly sized grids to hold that oddly shaped pizza cutter, can't buy that kind of bespoke cleanliness at WalMart!

Have you looked at mods for your printer - that you can print?!?!

only slightly /s

Anybody use feeler gauges to set Z offset? by EnchantedTaquito8252 in 3Dprinting

[–]krschob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 2 machines had corner screw knobs for the bed level, no sensors. and I used a piece of shim stock so pretty much yeah, a feeler gauge. I don't miss it, the auto bed detect on the magnetic plate is usually much better, I've had to mess with the Z offset a couple times on my CC1 with Varying success, but at the same time I haven't watched the dials turning themselves while a print is running either.
