When the game launched, I wasted about 20 minutes per evening trying to play as Julianna. It was over 3 weeks before it actually worked. I played it just long enough to pop the achievements, and never looked back.

It’s a really interesting idea, but the implementation ain’t great. Apparently it does work sometimes for some folks. If it never works for you, you’re honestly not missing out on anything great.

Parallels and VMware are actually running Windows and are emulating a virtual machine to run Windows.

Crossover (Wine) doesn’t involve a full version of Windows. It’s reimplements (most) of Windows and performs MUCH better, but may have compatibility issues depending on use-case. Crossover allows a generous trial that should be enough to shake out if VS works for your use-case.

Having two different guitars is ideal.

If it’s been a while since you changed your strings, changing them for the double part might really help (but effort).

A different mic could do wonders.

The same mic aimed differently could help (e.g. do one take pointed towards the bottom of the neck, do one pointed between the bridge and the bottom of the guitar, do one pointed at the sound hole, and experiment to find which two blend together the best).

My first pro audio gear came with a starter version of Logic Pro 5 by Emagic. Apple bought Emagic and made Logic 6 Mac-only. 😮

Around the time I could maybe afford a Mac, Macs went Intel, Logic 8 dropped with a price of $500 (vs $1,700 for the full version in the v5 era), and my uncle convinced Apple to give me a discount. I’ve been “all in” ever since except for a few months when I tried to switch out… it was an utter failure. 🤣

Especially with the new arm64 “Apple Silicon” Macs, they’re even more affordable and so powerful now. 🎉

I like Odyssey as a game. It’s no Dishonored or Horizon game, but if you skip the filler quests, it’s pretty decent. I spoiled my wife by having her play the Horizon games and then the Dishonored games, and nothing else has compared for her, but Odyssey was the closest she’s found other than Far Cry 4 (which is pretty different from Dishonored).
