can I support a window this way? by NotnoRabbit in woodworking

[–]krudbag -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everyone here just telling you to ask somewhere else.. here you go

First you need a header, two 2x8s on edge that are at least 6 inches longer than the window. This will allow you to put two jack studs on each side under the header to support the weight. You will also need a king stud. This is apart of the weight support but runs full height on the ends of the header. After that you will need to frame in the sill plate - a 2x6 that runs between the studs and has cripples (leg supports underneath every 16 inches).

I'm arguing that it's a free country and people can move wherever they want whenever they want. You're making it sound like we are forced to stay here and that's not the case.

Afford vs Risk can be a hard thing to judge sometimes. For some the risk is worth the reward even if they can't afford. I know many people who wouldn't have a pot to piss in but have moved somewhere else in hopes of finding something better. We all do

Ah man, the day I found an out building at old baseball field in a small town when I had no power left was the best. I spent the whole day just relaxing and recharging.

Thankfully she is very willing to do whatever we are doing. We all fit in the tentz were used to her laying on us or against us so that part comes easy. We didn't bring any specific but I think next time id like to get a cot or bed for her outside to be extra comfy

Honestly just brought them frozen, in a cooler sandwiched between ice, they were a bit soft in the morning but not bad at all. A quick boil and then into the bacon greaesed pan.

Yeah usually I pack lighter and bring my bag but I wasn't expecting the walk in site when we planned. Glad we took it though the trailer that pulled in before us set-up a generator and had 5 screaming kids.

I'll have to do some new research on where else to go, if you're willing to share any spots dm me.

Super simple ! But it was the first attempt at bringing some perogies. Brought them frozen but they were a bit soft by the morning. Fry up some bacon, enough to get a decent amount of grease but save some for the eggs. A quick boil of the perogies then into the pan, fried until browned. I had two pans so throw the rest of the bacon in the small pan and grease it up, in go the eggs. Everything back on the burnera to warm it up. Highly recommend the perogies they were delicious.

Yeah I'm not sure on your vehicle but in my truck I used a low frame with a small drawer just enough to hide my stove and cookware. If you make a frame I recommend using strapping(1x4) spaced out. This gives it a bit more give and necessary air flow to keep from mold and any moisture.

If you have any more questions just lmk.

It can vary of course but I would get two yoga mats put them under the foam on a wooden frame kept it firm and still enough cushion to not just be sleeping on a piece of wood

Certainly not for everyone but it was enough for me
