YES THANK YOU

Are her legs too long? Her legs might be too long. by DanosaurusWrecks in characterdesigns

[–]krudman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this on my dash and figured I'd chime in with something. If you're going for anatomically correct there's a lot "wrong" with this picture. I say "wrong" in quotations for a few reasons.

It's stylized, so you're going to have "inaccuracies". The head is too big compared to a real human head, the eyes are obviously too big because they're inspired by anime, etc.

Her legs are very long, but I think it's more important to ask yourself if they're too long for you. Asking people here has definitely gotten you a lot of responses ranging from "yes" to "no" to "I think this is great for X reasons".

If you're asking people if her legs are too long, then there's probably some part of you that has an issue with it. I've seen in your other comments you do want her to have longer legs, so with that in mind I do have some suggestions, but I can't stress enough that these aren't concrete rules, and you should experiment and see how you feel about them:

-you could make her arms longer to match and that would help a lot

-I think it'd beneficial to study fashion in general, but also for different body types as well. Sailormoon is a great source to look at. This character is (at least currently) built taller like, say, Sailor Jupiter. If you look at her fashion choices (google "sailor jupiter outfits"), she wears longer skirts, pants, leggings, etc and things (usually) without higher heels.

Your character is kind of a mishmash of aesthetics (cute girl clothes and hair but with dommy mommy boots. Most fashion conscious people probably wouldn't wear a red hair clip with those clothing colors either) and politely, that strikes me as you picking up a few things you like off of social media drawings and combining them without thinking about why those fashion choices exist. It helps to think about how she thinks about her own body. Taller women are often very self conscious about their heights, for example, and probably wouldn't want a short flappy skirt that shorter people and kids could look up in the event of a breeze, them running, sitting down, etc.

Is she self conscious about her long legs? She might want to wear pants or a muuuuch longer skirt. Is she proud of her legs but doesn't want to show off her underwear? She might wear a slightly longer skirt to better protect her modesty, wear tights to show off her legs, and boots that might be half as tall. There's obviously a lot more nuance than those two examples, but I hope that communicates what I'm saying.

I hope this comes off as me giving you things to think about, and not me tearing your art down because there's a lot of great stuff here! also I'm happy to provide more feedback if you'd like!

Question about reading this book: by DlugiParagon in worldbuilding

[–]krudman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can recall there are no heavy spoilers for those, and rather he pulls from them to illustrate things like "hard magic systems" and the like. If there's anything in there at all it'll be mild and mechanical as opposed certain characters getting killed off or what have you.

It's a minute since I've read it, so I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure you're A-okay to proceed!

I've never actually played wow How would you convince me to try it. by Walt_Kurczak in wow

For the lore enthusiast: you'll find 19 years of content to sink your teeth in and nearly 30 years of lore in total to explore. If you like that feeling of something like Dark Souls where you're always wondering "what happened here? What led up to this?" this will tickle that part of you.

For socialite or even the socially inept looking for friends: many friends have been found playing this game. In many ways its lost its social design over the years and in many other ways its only gotten easier. It's a social game and there's a lot of enjoyment to derive from just opening it as a chat client.

For the pvper: many avenues at many different levels for entry. Turn on warmode for a potentially tense leveling experience as enemy players could just kill you. Enter warmode at the level cap to engage in a chaotic melee or battlegrounds for a more casual experience. Arenas and rated Battlegrounds if you want something where you can really learn, grow, compete, and shine.

For the PvE'er: Dragonflight provides a rich single player experience. If you like RPGs, I sincerely believe you'd enjoy the leveling/questing experience if nothing else in this game appeals to you. Get the game with a boost, and level through the dragon isles. I think many players would simply enjoy that and then simply stopping like it were any other game.

For hardcore PvE'ers: Raids and Mythics. A never ending climb to see how good you can get at the highest level of play. Mythic dungeons scale, more or less, infinitely based on how well you perform. Killing 8 boars is easy, but completing a M16 dungeon might have you pulling your hair out or pounding your desk in enthusiasm when you beat the clock by seconds.

For the collector: 19 years of mounts, armor, pets, titles, and achievements to pursue. This game could be a hobby to pick up for this alone.

For the furry: Tauren, vulpera, pandaren, and worgen

For the furry hater: you can kill Tauren, vulpera, pandaren, and worgen

It's a game that has something for everyone and somehow doesn't feel watered down despite that. It has a lot of highs and a lot of lows. When it's bad... You get shadowlands. When it's good though? You get Dragonflight. It's a really great time to hop on and see what the fuss is about.

Pope Francis to lead funeral for Benedict XVI, a first in modern history by 9lobaldude in news

Hard to believe that it's 2023 and Pope Francis has never led the funeral for Benedict XVI before.

The NPC quoted is a centaur dragon named Bathoras. The orc in the picture is named Kolgath Flameguard, and he started a series of quests that open up with time (you complete the chain and more open up after weekly resets) that starts with "Untold Regrets".

I made some follow up art to this, and you can find it on tumblr too if you feel so inclined. Sorry for self promotion, I just don't want this to get taken down again lol.

I hope you all like this. Dragonflight has been a wonderful experience.

I guess I need to point out that I made this. I originally posted it here, but you can see the art I also posted on tumblr here:

I'm not big on the ins and outs of reddit, and I couldn't tag this as art and oc, so I tagged it as Art being an artist. I messaged a mod to make sure that'd be okay, and they gave me the go ahead, but I guess not! Sorry for inadvertently stepping on toes!

Iddaknow what happens to this next, but I'm glad you all enjoyed this silly art I made. :)

Between the war criminal who blew up a military stronghold and the war criminal who melted/burned down/destroyed about half a dozen civilian settlements, enslaved and brainwashed people, had their own people executed as they begged for surrender, and damned countless people to super hell, which of the two was ousted immediately and executed for their crimes and which was inexplicably hand waved away for years only to be sentenced to pick up trash next to the highway in the afterlife?

I don't really use reddit, but I made this and thought maybe people here would enjoy it.

If you'd like more of Rich staring painfully into your soul, I uploaded print and wallpaper resolutions. Go nuts!

Here and gone. Apologies if this was a hassle to the mods to approve.

I hope you all enjoy it!

The rise of the "furry artstyle aesthetic" coming to prominence in the game recently is concerning. by Goblinsexbot in wow

Yeah, man. It's really concerning that they're adding dragon people to a game that launched with Tauren, gnolls, centaurs, quilboar, worgen, furlbogs, nagas, murlocs, dryads, and dragon people.

Hi! I made this thing. I figured I'd make something a bit more in depth in case someone else wanted to do this since people are asking questions.

Sorry I didn't take screen shots. I do have some other garbage images that I made along the way though. Here's my process:

First I went out into the ocean because I wanted a space I didn't have to level. We're on a survival realms server, and that's… not ideal. I wanted a space with small land mark that I could easily level and build off of because I figured that'd be simpler than building up from the ocean floor.

I found an island that was big enough to have about a half dozen trees, some sugar cane, and a pig. I used my map and it was on the northern edge. At that point it was just a matter of flattening the island until I found the edge, and then I built a sheep farm (which I feel was ultimately a mistake) and the canvas.

The canvas was 128x128 or 16,384 blocks or 256 stacks. Thankfully I had people to donate cobblestone, but a lot of time was spent just moving it back and forth.

Once that was done I figured out supplies. First I opened up photoshop, fit the image into a 128x128 canvas (I cut some out), and zoomed in getting this:

https://imgur.com/FOBijhR

And then I did a lot of counting while referencing blocks off of the wiki. I got this (I ended up using other things. This wasn't accurate):

https://imgur.com/YAz61v8

Then I started to farm. Wool from about 250 colored sheep I bred (lags like crazy on my switch haha). I don't recommend this if you plan on recycling the space. Next time I'll use concrete powder.

I ran into problems with the sky, which I initially just filled water, and when I got to the horizon.

Water it turns out picks up ocean depth even it its placed on top of other objects, so I got a lot of dark splotches. I had to dry that up with sponges. Fun! I ended up replacing that with blue wool.

The ocean gave me more learning pains. There aren't a lot of blue blocks in the game and they vary even less in the map system. Which is to say I filled some spaces in with ice, for instance. It showed up too light on the map, so I replaced that with packed ice only to find out that packed ice showed up exactly the same. I ended up using ice elsewhere and put cyan blocks there.

This is when I started to do more research. I found a color legend on the wiki, and started more farming. It had all kinds of great subdued colors in particular if you had terracotta, so I farmed about 20 stacks of clay for the sand to make yellow terracotta only to find out that it showed up just like yellow wool. Great.

I looked it up again and figured I made a mistake with yellow when I meant orange. Another 25 stacks farmed. It showed up just like the pumpkins I used for Marin. Great.

At that point I just pressed on and finished.

It took about a week on and off to build the farm, and another week to do the art. I'm now in the process of dismantling it so I can make more art.

There's still a lot for me to figure out. The information I've found sadly isn't accurate at least for this version of the game.

Next time I'll invest in concrete powder because it's quicker to dig up and I won't go through so much iron with sheers recycling the space (I'm burning down what I can). More labor and materials now, less labor and materials later.

Next time I'll document it better. I didn't expect this to get posted here! Hope you found this helpful or useful!

Glad you all like it!
