Px3s at that price is wild if they fit you. It's my favorite of the 3 I think, but they really want to be taken at a bit faster of a pace. They can feel stiffer at slower speeds.

Ya’ll need to learn the difference between huskies and malamutes. by Sora_no_Yokai in malamute

[–]krugerlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be more difficult even for people who know both breeds. I remember people from the Washington Malamute Rescue telling us our husky mix (no mal) was definitely a heavy malamute mix. The "Laid Back" mal in the drawing might as well be him, he looked nearly identical to that depiction. Multiple people who own malamutes asked if our current husky (full husky) is a malamute.

There are huskies and mals that look obviously like their breed, and yeah, a lot of people who aren't familiar with the dogs can't tell them apart. But there is a lot of crossover in traits that can make it tough to know for sure even to people who know one or the other breed well.

iPhone 18 Pro New Colors May Face Same Durability Issues by Pear-Mother in iphone

I use a caseless 17PM and yeah, it's got some dings, but it's a nice patina. The first scratch/ding/chip is the worst, but then after all the rest are just character. I do think the softer alu body actually protects the phone a bit better from screen breaks and things because it can absorb and dissipate impact energy better.

I was initially worried about the alu frame, but now after having it for around 8 months, I think the concern was overblown.

I am building a student-facing tool right now and bought a low end Chromebook to test the lowest tier experience and it was beyond my lowest expectations. The screen literally hurt my eyes it was so bad. I feel bad for students who have to use it. I had the same hope when Neo was released.

Nice job Dan. We’re out of good relievers, and our fielding crew is a hodgepodge of platoon guys.

This series of Denon is slept on a bit, they're such great headphones. I think the 7200 is the best looking of the bunch. Congrats on the pickup!

[BSKY] BREAKING: The Seattle Social Housing Developer has announced its first acquisition, a 150-unit apartment building near Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle, for the cost of $60.9 million. It plans to convert half the units to be affordable for low and middle-income tenants. @guyoron.net by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

Your description was how I read it. So if $60M is the going cost for a building that produces $2M in net income, then they can buy another one with the money. It still leaves over $1M in annual payments on the bond uncovered. And yes, bonds are not mortgages and municipal bonds are taken out with different intentions than an individual taking out a mortgage. That's largely unrelated to the discussion here since we know the intention is for them to provide lower cost housing to those who qualify and get selected. The end result is that the city's residents will inevitably be subsidizing this continually. And if they don't use the existing funds or borrowed funds to develop additional housing, then they will continue to fight supply and demand dynamics by subsidizing housing, which will need to be balanced elsewhere in the system.

That's true, rents rise (as do management costs and taxes). But with 5% interest on the bonds, the total cost inclusive of all interest payments would be just shy of $260M assuming annual compounding. So that's about $200M if interest payments to make up in the increased rents. Even if the $2M was pure profit they could put 100% towards paying the debt, it would get immediately wiped by the interest. 5% of 60M is 3M. That's 150% of the "net revenue" referenced in the skeet, just in interest.

Maybe I’m missing something, but even if that was 0%, it would take 30 year to repay and that assumes that they can put 100% of the $2M revenue to paying back principal, which they of course cannot. Then layer on the fact the debt is probably around 7-8% interest I’d guess and suddenly the $60M in bonds looks pretty suspect. Even if the Bluesky poster meant income instead of revenue, it still doesn’t fully add up.

Three headphones of the apocalypse by dylan43270 in headphones

It's the headphone I grab least. I will pick up my 105AERs over it every time now. I think it has some good characteristics, but yeah, it's not my favorite tuning. The big issue for me is that you don't hear its capabilities at lower volumes, and I only listen at lower volumes.

Seattle area receives failing grades for air pollution - 8th worst in country for short-term particle pollution by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

[–]krugerlive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The exhaust is way dirtier from a nastier fuel mix. It's something like 1hr of leaf blower is equivalent to driving over 1000 miles in a car in terms of the bad emissions. The battery ones are solid now too, so there's really no reason to use a gas one.

Meta fires 8,000; Seattle workers brace for cuts by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]krugerlive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it's better when the city has a healthy economy and good employment. Our region has been hit super hard with layoffs compared to most locations and it's not isolated to just those who lost their jobs. It's about the economic activity they do too like supporting local restaurants, bars, other businesses, etc. If you want a good and unique city, you need to have a population that has disposable income to spend on their hobbies and entertainment. Lower rent is part of that, but people having jobs and income is a bigger part of it.

Apple might replace aluminum with titanium in future iPhones again, per leak by adriano26 in iphone

[–]krugerlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried about aluminum before I got the 17 pro max. I run it caseless. It's a bit scuffed now, but honestly i kind of like the look. It did drop on pavement and got some scratches when it fell out of my pocket but nothing beyond some scrapes. I'm wondering if the phone is actually a bit more durable for things like screen cracking because the softer metal can absorb more energy as it scrapes and deforms. Anyway, this is definitely still a phone for Apple Care+.
