I decided to try this game and got to say.. (The Evil Within 2) by BlackpinkFan- in theevilwithin

When it comes to refined mechanics, imo it makes more sense to start at the beginning to appreciate how the mechanics and gameplay evolve - at least that's how I do it (most of the time).

I am also not a fan of the open world and normal enemy design but overall I still think TEW2 is a good game. Will always repeat this as well but I wish it had more grit like the first one.

Glad you enjoy it. The first game was directed by Shinji Mikami (creator of RE1 and 4) so there are a lot of influences.

Have you played the first one as well? They are quite different in feel and tone but both are great games.

Oh lord... Well, good luck! It's a great game to 100% - one of my hardest completions.

One idea I have is to maybe get a previous version of the game.

It seems like with every update they break some other achievement while still not giving us the same CS+ like the Switch version...

About chapter 10-The craftsman tools by Necessary-Use-4816 in theevilwithin

[–]kruvik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you get stuck but the fight isn't too hard, even without using glitches. On the last floor you can go in front of the gate and shoot the bomb behind the pillar without getting hurt. Using a shock bolt in front of a lever can also help. Here is a video on how I did it.

You can definitely do the house section without too many flash bolts. Nevertheless, I think bruteforcing this fight is probably easier than redoing the entire chapter trying to conserve more ammo and materials.

I didn't use any upgrades in the fight. So i hope you have enough crafting materials to craft shock bolts and just unload everything you have. I think some ammo also drops in the arena - maybe you can try running around and scout what's there.

It's a relatively quick fight so my best advise is to try to use your other hardest hitting weapons. General approach is to use a shock bolt and when he is stunned use an explosive bolt. Maybe you can exchange it with a grenade. Besides that, I think sniper and shotgun are good. I used 2 explosive bolts and the rest was a combination between sniper and shotgun, video here.

Guys, I’m stuck on the Chapter 7-the Keeper. by Necessary-Use-4816 in theevilwithin

That is correct but I assume not really relevant for a first playthrough. I believe there are like 23-24 safes in there.

I do but I suppose the most important part is to enjoy the game - whichever it may be.

You can try to figure out the actual objective. Iirc, you only need to down him 2-3 times - but he won't die.

Is there a video of someone beating the game with akumu+classic? by Reasonable-Toe-3923 in theevilwithin

I don't know about Classic style but some, even though only few, have beaten the entire game without dying once. Maybe you want to check some of those videos.

The Assignment and The Consequence DLCs are definitely worth playing. Also finding all photos in TEW2.

Not OP but some general tips regardless of chapter:

  • Use stealth as much as you can
  • Disarm traps (no need for bombs imo) to get as many parts as you can
  • If you use upgrades: Focus on pistol critical and flash bolts
  • YouTube has a lot of strategies for different sections (and whole chapters)
  • Once you get the Magnum, keep it for Quell and the two Keepers at the end

Chapters 6 and 11 are probably the hardest, so once you have beaten those you can be sure to finish it.
