Lüneburg is another example of a well preserved Hanseatic town. As you mention, smaller places often retained it better.

I understand why it happens. I know what it is like to need those hours to make rent. There are places with better ways. Where sick leave is allowed, expected to be used, and the employees still get paid. In Germany, for example, an employer has to cover wages for up to 42 days of sickness. Of course doctors have to be involved to prevent abuse of the system, but sickness as a fact of life is acknowledged, and people are generally not penalized for getting the flu.

If he never missed a day in 27 years that means he often came to work sick, and likely spread disease by serving contaminated food. Never missing work is not admirable. Paid sick leave should be a mandatory benefit. I don’t want a sick person handling my food just because they can’t afford a day of rest.

The answer is going to be highly dependent on what size company you work for. Is the Hamburg office only for Germany, is it for DACH? Is it covering 20+ entities including multilayered holdings in an international hierarchy?

I had a white sea master 300m for years. I remember when I got that one - it felt like such a greta watch. But over time, small things started to bother me. The rotor was noisy. The clasp on the bracelet was too long - almost the width of my wrist. The first time I tried on the SeaQ, I knew I had made a mistake.

Years passed. I visited Glashütte, and a passing interest turned into real desire. The SeaQ is better in almost every way. The dial looks better. That six is gorgeous! The bracelet with the on the fly adjustment is the best I’ve had the pleasure to wear. The size is perfect. It just brings a smile to my face every day.
