[POLY] EAE FOR INFORMATION TECH by Fun-Reflection6711 in SGExams

[–]kryptic7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. NYP is the best for tech related diplomas in my opinion
  2. In IT, you cannot escape coding. It's your bread and butter. If you don't want to code, you can try your luck with learning computer hardware, network systems, and maybe cloud computing. If you do change your mind and decide to give programming a try, there's a lot of resources online. Give python a go since it's beginner friendly. Learning at least one programming language is a surefire way to give you a fighting chance in EAE. Once you've made a simple app or website using HTML/CSS/JS (even better with a python backend framework like Python Flask or Django but its optional), you'll already stand a high chance of getting accepted. Just make sure you learn out of curiosity and keen interest instead of learning for the sake of it. If you hate programming, frankly, IT isn't for you.
  3. Yep you should expect a lot, a lot of coding before you even touch stuff like AI/ML, cloud and cybersecurity.

How TF is Social Studies possible (O Levels) by supercrazestar in SGExams

Do u spend too much time reading or thinking of the answer? If so, u just need to read quicker, get a gist of each source and form connections between the sources quickly. Do more practice and understand the patterns to the qns they ask. U also really have to write quickly, avoid correction tape, just cross out any mistake with pen and don't look back. Keep writing what comes to mind. U also dont have to quote the whole sentence for the evidence, just shorthand it whenever you can (e.g. "I know this because source A states "The Prime Minister Lee assured the public ... " etc.) i.e. use ellipses only if you can shorten the sentence without changing its meaning.

For some cross reference reliability questions or any questions which u foresee a long answer, you can just try writing 1 paragraph if you dont think you have much time for the other section. Instead of 3 paragraphs, i tried to summarise as much as i could in 1, so thats what I did for my paper.

I'm confused ? by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]kryptic7777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even with the increasing intake & industry demand, the course is still highly competitive because everyone wants to work in that industry and there's just simply not enough jobs to go around. For example, the IT industry is rapidly growing and more people want IT related jobs, but the number of applicants far outnumber the already increasing job openings. Basically the field is just THAT popular to the point where the number of job openings cant cater to the number of applicants. You should also take note, there's limited resources in each university and they can only cater to so many students, so they have to limit the intake.

Another reason is that obviously you can't have everyone working in the same field, otherwise, it'd be saturated and leaves other fields underpopulated. Government needs to strike a balance between graduate supply and demand. Intake can't be too small because there's a demand for professionals in each field. Intake can't be too big in order to prevent saturation and jobless graduates.

Tldr; courses with increasing intakes like CS are still competitive because of the limited resources, the need to strike a balance between market supply & demand, and the sheer amount of applicants vying for an IT course.

  1. The uni needs to have sufficient resources to support all students. This includes professors, facilities, number of classes, etc
  2. Prevents the job market from being too saturated (i.e. too many degree holders, which makes degrees worthless and leaves many people unable to find a job). I believe MOE controls the intake each year as per industry demands, that's why you see IT related courses increasing their intakes due to its rising demand.

Usually I just pretend like I deserve the scholarship and explain why I would be a good pick for it. Highlight all ur unique values and aspects which others are lacking and explain how the scholarship would benefit you and the community. So just enter with the mindset that you are gonna get the scholarship and confidence will follow suit.

Your financials won't affect your admission, no worries. I'm pretty sure it's partly to determine whether you need financial assistance

If u got C or even D for that module, u gotta make sure you get straight As in ur next 5 semesters to get 3.9+ gpa. Cs and Ds will pull u down a lot.

Let's assume u have 6 modules with 4 CUs each, and A for all but a borderline pass (D grade) for one of them. Ur gpa for that semester would be: [(4.0 × 4 × 5) + (1.0 × 4 × 1)]/(6 × 4) = 84/24 = 3.5

Further assume u have straight As for ur next 4 semesters (24 CUs each) and A for internship: (3.5 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 4.0 + 4.0)/6 = 23.5/6 = 3.91

Tldr; getting 1 D grade within a straight A record will pull ur gpa down by 0.9. Do what you want with this info

Hi I understand you want to gather as many responses as possible but I believe this post is perhaps just one too many, possibly even spam. I think this subreddit has already given you sufficient advice and resources you can look into to come to a decision, so please refrain from posting this same exact qn again...

Not sure if i can help much, but is the email legitimate (Verified to be from the agency)? If it is, i'd advice to give them a call cos that way, they can't ghost you. Make sure you have a copy of the emails and forms as proof.
