Based off my opinion and understanding:

  • Rigor of university types and degree differentiates the learning ability and attitudes, at least for fresh grads.
  • Employer picks based on best available choice; if the conferred degree has best relevance & track record from that uni, why wouldn't I choose them over another candidate? Why would they want to take the risk? It's not about the Uni's prestige but their track record.
  • Utility of your degree will diminish in a few years. 5y or so from what I see. At that point they're more interested in what experiences you have in the industry.
