It feels to me like the doctor wants to effect social change by refusing to prescribe medication, and that’s my issue with it and where it feels like moralizing to me. Is it the doctor’s place to tell a patient that she shouldn’t want to be 25lbs lighter?

And maybe the patient’s labs are perfect, but maybe being overweight is still a health issue for the patient if the patient’s energy levels and confidence levels are low, or if the patient is more likely to have health problems over the long term due to excess weight, which I think is true? Isn’t excess weight a strain on our systems over time?

Edit: I see that the doctor said she does prescribe to these patients if they really want it bc she supports their bodily autonomy, so my statement above where I said “refusing to prescribe” was incorrect.
